Episode Summary

The Agricultural Department is sending a student to learn the ropes from agent Hank Kimball. No one's too interested until Terry turns out to be an attractive blonde co-ed. All the men of Hooterville, eligible and otherwise, fall over themselves flirting and fawning. On the night of the big barn dance, the Douglas living room is packed full of maneuvering men, each thinking they're her date for the evening. Terry's choice turns out to be none of the above.

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (4)

      • Sam Drucker's date to the dance is supposed to be Matilda Abernathy, but he decides she's too old for him after meeting Terry.

      • While Fred Ziffle makes it clear he's only wanting to "escort" Terry to the dance, Mr. Haney is looking for a date with her. Haney is supposedly married (he mentions a wife in several episodes), but no one in the episode finds his motives odd. He would later court Oliver's mother in episode #120 Everybody Tries to Love a Countess.

      • Haney is having a June white sale. He's selling everything that belonged to June White. He only gets to show a bronzed leg of lamb with Henry VIII's teeth marks on it.

      • This time, it's Hank Kimball who sees the episode's opening credits. After he speaks to Oliver, he says to wait a second because there's one more name.

    • QUOTES (3)

      • Haney: (to Lisa upon arriving to pick up Terry) Would you tell her I'm here and present her with this bouquet of roter-denderons, which would have cost her six dollars if she'd bought 'em in a store.
Lisa: Thank you. (calls to Terry) Terry, Mr. Haney brought you some flowers. (cracks bedroom door and throws them in)

      • Fred: (after Terry goes off with Arnold) Doggone! That Arnold double-crossing me! His own flesh and blood.
Haney: Stood up by a pig!

      • Eb: (to Terry) Would you like to take a tour of the farm? It's always good for a laugh.

    • NOTES (0)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)
