The Great Mayoralty Campaign

Aired Unknown Oct 27, 1970 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • When Lisa serves Oliver a cup of hot chocolate, it pours like her coffee. She took twelve bars of chocolate and "hotted" them.

    • Sam Drucker says he's been the mayor of Hooterville for 37 years.

    • Haney and Fred have scheduled Oliver's speeches to be less than five minutes, since people doze off after just ten minutes of his speaking. This way, they only start to yawn.

  • Quotes

    • Haney: (discussing Lisa's sex appeal) That's right. All your wife has to do to get the menfolk to vote for her is to campaign in one of them fluffy "negligees" of hers.
Hank: I got an idea. Why don't we put Mr. Douglas in a "negligee?"
Fred: Ah, nawh, I've seen him in a "negligee." He don't do a thing to me.

    • Fred:(giving campaign advice to Oliver) We've got to change your image.
      Oliver: To what?
      Fred: To something less gruesome.

    • Oliver: (arguing with Lisa about the campaign dirty tricks) Who filled my hat up with hot dough?
Lisa: (suddenly realizing) Ohhhh, that's what Ralph did with my hotscake batter.

    • Lisa:(dropping out of the campaign) In the words of Calvin Coolidge, "I do not choose to have a run."

    • Lisa: I accept the denomination!

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • The men put a long blonde wig on Oliver so he'll appeal to the young voters. Fred Ziffel says Oliver looks like Patsy Kelly. Kelly was a Tony-winning actress who became famous in comedies during the early 1930s.
