Lisa finally remembers that it's their 10th wedding anniversary.
As an anniversary gift, Mr. Haney gives Oliver and Lisa a South American rubber plant. The pot to put it in, however, is $3.95.
Dr. Faber delivered Oliver when he was born.
The play that Dr. Faber is seeing and that Oliver calls him away from is Hello, Doctor, a takeoff of the Broadway play Hello, Dolly starring Carol Channing which was popular at that time.
Lisa has a new way of cooking hotscakes; she pours the batter into a big square and then uses a pot lid to cut out round cakes.
Eb notes that Mr. Haney keeps his marriage license on the wall and throws darts at it.
George Bennington: (at the Agriculture office in D.C.) Say, your angry little voice sounds familiar. Aren't you the fella who was infected with corn bores last year?
Oliver: That's right!
George: What do ya have this year?
Oliver: Wheat stem sawflies.
George: How about that! You're raising wheat out on the terrace now, huh? You Park Avenue folks are--
Oliver: I don't live on Park Avenue anymore.
George: Oh, they cancelled the lease, huh?
Oliver: No! I bought a farm near Hooterville!
George: Where?
Oliver: Hooterville!
George: You're pullin' my leg!
(Oliver, growing corn on the terrace of his New York apartment, has called Dr. Faber on an emergency because he has corn bores)
Dr. Faber: (to Lisa) What seems to be the problem? Your husband called me and said that it was an emergency.
Lisa: Yes, he has irritated corn sores.
