  • Top of the line British comedy...

Absolutely ridiculous show. The comedy is so off the wall sometimes you aren't even really sure if you just saw what you did accurately. The characters are hilariously likable and you become very invested in the central love triangle of the show. The relationships between the characters are enjoyable to watch unfold and the less significant characters are just as quirky and fun as the important ones. Overall, this is a top British comedy that I would highly recommend. Sadly I doubt anyone outside of the UK will ever lay eyes on this, but it would be great if this could be appreciated by the rest of the world.
  • Wonderfully original

I started watching this after being a fan of Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy and House M.D. and I was expecting a British take on the hospital drama / comedy, maybe in a Red Dwarf or Blackadder style - sarcastic bit just as much about what goes on and the character relationships as being funny.

What I realised quite quickly is this is much more in a sketch show style. The characters do know each other and interract, but you get small sketches involving one or two of the characters.

Give it time, I didn't like the style for the first couple of episodes, but then something clicked and every couple of minutes for the rest of the two series I laughed out loud. This is brilliantly funny without ever needing to explore what actually happens in a hospital - the exact same show could have been set in a school, office or wherever, so it never worries about how to do things in a hospital setting, it is just purely to make you laugh.

For anyone who maybe saw "The Book Group" and liked it then this is a must see. For those out there who like relationship driven sitcoms, maybe give this a go and it could gently introduce you to a whole new area of classic British comedy
  • A hospital comedy where no actual medicine is ever practiced. Now that's what I'm talking about!

Seriously the best Britcom I've ever seen. Zany, wacky, more than a little bit off kilter. This show has a little bit of something for everyone. Except boring people. From a self-professed anglophile, this show is like heaven (that then fell to earth). Sadly for us North American viewers we may be waiting for a LONG LONG time to see how Guy deals with sleeping with his mother or if Caroline and Mac make it work. Well actually you can read the synopses online, but you know what I mean. Here's hoping that the seasons 1 & 2 dvds will be released in region 1 and that BBC America finally comes to it's senses and decides to air season 2. Love this show to death!!!!! Two thumbs up, five stars, 10 out of 10 and all that jazz.

"Kissing in the toilet. Don't flush, it's lush!" - Guy Secretan ;)
  • Cool!

An instant addiction, the big cast of characters are bizarre but complex enough to be believably human (unlike, say, the support roles in Will and Grace). The way they all *move* is brilliant just on its own - especially the sickeningly smooth Dr Guy (did you see him sucking Dr Martin's shirt at the party?)and Joanna the Manager, a marionette on speed. The dialogue is sharp and very funny (huge team of writers) and on top of all this, there are enough plot lines to make you really care about these hyped-up weirdos, even the radiologist nerd, played by Mark Heap, who in contrast to all geek mythology ever, gets LOADS of sex. Even if the sex is funny enough to make you wince.

So much more witty than the "let's muck about dressed up in women's clothes, har har" style of recent "Little Britain" and "League of Gentlemen".

This is a great direction for British comedy/sit-coms to veer off on. More more!

Loved season 1 as it was so quik and funny!
Guy and Mac are personal favs as they never miss a trick
and they are ace in the hospital but they nerver get any work done dop they? lol if they did it would be rubbish lol Caroline is ace two as she is someone many many people can link 2 as she needs to pitied in the first season but is alot better character through and through in the 2nd season.
I wanted Mac and caroline to get together as i thought they was great but i like Guy to as hes so funny and one hell of a lover in his own head lol please please please bring it back as it rox my
  • i like this show

tons of people watch this but why wouldnt they? this show has humor but it is disappointing at times
also i know some of the show is aimed at humor but it is sick humor but i cant help but laugh even if it means turnin away plz dont let this show end soon!!!
  • Amazing!

Absolutely fantastic. I was hooked from the first episode on. It's hard not to get addicted to it and await each episode eagerly.

While the show has random, crazy, quirky humour I've never seen before, there are also incredible characters involved, and it's great fun to see them interact with each other. Every character has his/her own warped ways, yet are still endearing to the viewer.

The unique fast-slow editing and use of music lend a great effect to the show, helping boost the comedy up yet another notch.

Also, the cast are amazingly funny!

Green Wing is like no other show I've ever seen before.

  • OMG its amazing

I love this show it is one of the funniest things on TV, i think tamsin gregg is superb, but my favorite has to be michelle gomez who plays sue white as she is hillarious. I really hope there are many more series, the second series so far is great and i expect the rest will be the same. Its one of the only shows that continue to be funny and imrove after its first series. i hope these places exist as i would love to work in a place like that. i love it, i love it, i love it... more please
  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIGHT FOR THIS SHOW NEVER TO END!!! IT IS FANTASTIC!!! A wonderfully fresh comedy which was greatly needed!

This show just seems to get better and better with each and every episode!
I love to watch all the fantastic goings on in all the characters wierd little lives!
My highlight is the romance between Mac and Caroline (even though I am very jealous) and the besotted Sue White trying to keep them apart!!!
Guy is another who cracks me up with his endless torments on all his suspecting victims!
Boyce is fabulous with Dr Statham! I just love everything about it!!!
  • Another good hospital show.

If this is a show that you do not normally watch and you are sitting at home with nothing to do, you are going to wish you had it on tape. Having it "on tape " had become the generic term for recorded programs. Today you are more likely to have the show on Tivo or DVR than VHS, or god forbid Beta!! It is kind of like how a lot of people still call CD's "records" or "albums." Anyway, back to the show. This is the type of show that is really pretty good if you would just give it a chance. So on those cold, lonely, rainy days, pop in your tape or DVR or whatever if you were smart enough to tape it. If not, check to see if it is on as a re-run. After all, as they say, if you have never seen it, it is new to you.
  • The humour is amazing, the characters are hysterical, the acting is faultless and the storylines are genius! I just can’t say enough to fully describe how much I LOVE this show!

I can honestly say that I have never been this crazy about any other TV show, not even Little Brittan in its day. I have the DVD of Series 1 and I can not stop watching it, especially episode 5 (the house-warming party) with the commentary on, I love hearing about all of the behind-the-scenes antics.

Ok, enough about my un-healthy obsession with the show, I have to say that all of the actors are fan-bleedin-tastic, they are all so good at portraying the hidden emotions of their characters, i.e.; Dr. Guy Secretan’s deep love for Dr. Caroline Todd in Series 2, episode 2 when Caroline is telling him what she would say to Dr. Mac in an ideal world. She is physically very close to Guy in the scene and his facial expressions subtly show us that he secretly yearns for her love.
Another example is in Series 1, episode 5 when I think an entire nation of woman fell in love with Dr. Mac. His lingering stare after Guy trying to bed a very drunken Caroline spoke volumes of his true feelings for her. ‘What has she got that I haven’t?’ I distinctly heard a million female voices mumble the night that episode aired, including my own.

The plot line involving Guy and Joanna and the whole complicated incest, half brother, new found mother, (or smoo), drunken ambulance driving, resulting in comas and new ways of travel was does BRILLIANTLY!!!! Major kudos to ALL cast, crew, writers, directors and everyone else remotely involved. It worked so well! I loved the literal ‘cliff hanger’ that I was hung on to for two years!

    The relationship between characters is also something to comment on. Dr. Alan Statham and Boyce’s is just hilarious, my favourite scene being in Series 2, episode 1, ‘My daddy died last night’, I was wetting myself. We can all relate to Mac, Guy or Martin in their situation of loving someone who gives back strong signals, mixed signals or no signals at all. Caroline has a great range of relationships, including;
Hate – Angela, Joanna and sometimes Sue
Love – Mac and sometimes Guy
Friendship – Martin, Boyce, Mac, Guy and forced mutual ness with Angela
    Suspicion – Sue and Guy
Lust – Guy, Mac and Lyndon (or Arthur (in the deleted scenes))
    Confused nothingness – Alan

So overall I love Green Wing and am very much enjoying the new series!

  • When I first heard of Green Wing, I assumed it would just be your typical hospital comedy. I couldn't have been more wrong...

From the moment you start watching, you can't help but relate to at least one of the characters. Each with their own individual quirks and oddities, which make them unique (except of course the seemingly perfect Angela Hunter). Personalities range from the intolerably rude Guy Secretan, who everybody hates, and for good reason too, to the absolutely stark raving mad Sue White, whose antics include chasing someone out of her office with a mobile phone ringtone.

This is the best program I’ve seen in a long time. The perfect combination of insanity and lunacy, with a sprinkle of pure madness.
  • Ensemble comedy in a 1 hour format, something we never see anywhere else. The half doxen main characters are all highly watchable, and everybody loves to hate Guy. Hysterically funny, especially Statham vs. Boyce, not to mention the sight gags from the

This is the funniest show I've ever seen on TV, the gags are the kind you never would getaired in the U.S. unless the show was on HBO or Showtime.

The interaction between the various actors is always wierd and funny. My only complaint is Guy, since I doubt anyone of the characters, least of all Mac would ever call him friend.

The office girls crack me up and so far my favorite scene with them, was when one of them stuck a propeller looking device in her thong underware and twisted it like one of those rubber band gliders I had as a kid, and then pretended to fly around the office. Had to see to appreciate. It's an adult comedy with adult language, but not gratuitous IMO. I get several good belly laughs from every episode, especially in any scene invloving Statham or Sue White, who has to be one of the wierdest, funniest charcters ever created. I recomend this show to anybody and everybody who can handle adult language, and want a great laugh or 3. Of course I\\\'m also a devoted follower of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, so my taste is already out there.
  • Funny, crazy and just plain weird. The Green Wing is a British comedy that will have you peeing your pants!

This show is probably one of the funniest British comedies ever! I\'ve not been a fan of The Office or other comedies but Green Wing is refreshing and literally makes me laugh until i cry. It\'s characters that range from a psychotic, stalking psychiatrist to a deluded and stammering doctor. I really do suggest that you watch it at least once because i\'m sure you\'ll be laughing in a matter of mintues!
  • Laugh out loud funny!

At first really wasn't sure of this show, its a bit madcap and didn't really know how to take it. But I take it all back, one of the best things I've seen on TV recently (and I watch alot of TV!) Hilarious characters and some very clever writers and actors as most of it is improvised. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
  • Like South Park -- only live action.... and british.

Thank heaven for the BBC! This show would never be on the air in America otherwise and it would have been a shame.

It's an acquired taste for some, I'm sure. There are a lot of characters to sort through and some of the situations are way over the top. In hindsight, the mistake I made in the beginning was over thinking it. Once I accepted Green Wing's surrealism, I could sit back and enjoy the ride. And I mean REALLY enjoy it.

The humor is actually much more intelligent than it looks (a certain doctor dropping trou and rubbing his bare butt on the desk of a sexual rival was brilliant), and loads of it is a lot more subtle. The cast is talented and charming, the writing is crisp and effortless, and even the most outrageous bits fit.

These people are doing things that most of us only think about in the deep recesses of our Ids. Delightful and embarrassing urges that we, quite rightly, normally keep under wraps. But the staff of Green Wing are slightly less civilized than the rest of us and it all makes for a wild rollarcoaster ride that will leave your mouth hanging open. Think Monty Python meets South Park and you'll get it.

I'm not usually a fan of gross out humor (a certain fluid-filled birthday present comes to mind), but this show is so over the top, you can't help but laugh (that locket now haunts me.) I thought I didn't like it at first, but I just couldn't stop watching, and now I'm happily hooked.
  • There is no better comedy on television. America: pay attention!

    This is simply perfection.

All of the "rules of comedy" as dictated by the Greeks so many years ago are all seamlessly and outrageously obeyed and celebrated in each episode. (They are obsession, distortion, and reversal. Check out these rules sometime. they really work: Obey them and there will be a laugh. Don't obey them and you have Charles In Charge)

Each cast member knows their job within the machine. No two are alike nor do any of them share similiar quirks, attitudes, or appetites. They are unique and endearing and even the most obnoxious of them are human and we care about them.

    Unpredictable. Original. Fun.

Why can't we do that in the States?
  • This is possibly the funniest show I have ever seen. The large ensemble cast is perfect, and some of the gags bring tears to my eyes

This show is sort of similar to The Office, except even more hilarious. Some of the site gags are uproarious. I am praying for this show to be renewed so I can see the result of the[literal] cliffhanger. Mark Heap, who plays Dr Alan Statham seems to channeling Basil Fawlty as a stuttering welshman. Stephan Mangan is deliciously crass as Guy Secratan and Karl Theobald is the worlds most dweebiest man as Dr Martin Dear. Michelle Gomez is almost animalistic in her role as Sue White
