Meredith learns devastating news from a social worker who told her that it's time for her and Derek to move on from Zola. Meredith and Alex leave the hospital to try and save a baby. In the ambulance, they discuss what has happened, and Alex gets it out of Meredith that her messing with the Alzheimer's study caused them to lose Zola. Meredith doesn't want to discuss it.

Teddy brings her husband, Henry to the hospital since he's been coughing up blood. Since Teddy is his wife, she is not allowed to be his doctor, but Richard lets her be a part of his diagnosis. They find a tumor in his lung that could possibly be lasered off, but Richard has never performed this type of laser procedure before and Teddy suggests they find someone new.

Teddy asks Cristina to perform the surgery, keeping it from her that the patient is Henry. Cristina goes into the procedure wanting to time herself. The surgery doesn't go well and Richard has to jump in. The patient ends up dying on the table. When Cristina finds out that the patient is Henry, she is devastated.

Meredity and Alex can't help the baby since the hospital the baby's at is not properly equipped. They take the baby to the ambulance to head to Seattle Grace. Their ambulance ends up breaking down. Meredith and Alex refuse to leave the ambulance; they refuse to leave the baby. Then, the ambulance gets hit by a car. They finally get out and they see three dead bodies laying on the ground.
