  • This episode really highlights the superb acting of the cast.

    9.0
Three things really stand out for me in this episode. First is Burke's speech. His vows were incredible, the writing of this episode stands out in a season that didn't impress me in comparison to the previous two. Secondly was a simple sentence that shows us that Alex really does have a heart. When Rebecca's husband suggests that after the ferry crash Rebecca/Ava would of looked ugly Alex turns and says that she was beautiful. It was a really touching scene and actually was my favourite part of this episode. Lastly, Christina and Meredith have one of the most touching scenes we have seen between them. After Christina is left at the alter and returns to her apartment she breaks down to Meredith and it shows that these two seemingly strong women actually need each other more than they let on. The rest of the episode revolves around the interns receiving there test scores, the race for chief, the new and may i say disturbing George/Izzie relationship and the Christina/Burke wedding. I really enjoyed this episode. What did everyone else think?moreless

  • A very underrated episode - lots of character development, moving stories, wrapping up of storylines and the beginnings of new story lines.

    9.3
I don't know why many people didn't like this season finale. It may not have been the famous tearjerker that was the Season 2 finale but it was just as good - only different. Many plotlines that had been brewing throughout the season came to a head in this episode - Cristina and Burkes marriage, Meredith and Derek's troubled relationship, the Izzie George and Callie love triangle, Alex and Ava's feelings for each other, the chief and Adele's marriage issues and many more.

The only thing I didnt really like about this episode was Meredith - she needs to make a decision about her and Derek and stop moping about all the time. Her and her self pitying ways can get really annoying.

But apart from that, great episode that leaves a great many questions unanswered and ready to start a jam packed season 4.moreless
  • What is up with this timeline?

    5.5
This episode was in many ways saved by the great performances of Chandra Wilson, T.R. Knight and above all Sandra Oh. Knight did a great job with his scenes, and the scene with George and Bailey was very touching. Wilson was good at handling the scenes with Bailey regarding the chief resident thing.

It was really Sandra Oh's episode though, like last season finally was Katherine Heigl's. And like Heigl she did a wonderful job, especially in her last scene.

On the negative side, the plausible relationship between Alex and "Ava"... not a good idea. When her character was first brought in it was a great way of showing how Alex had started to belong in the same field as Addison. To have him then go and fall in love with that patient feels quite tame.

And how exactly is the timeline supposed to work on this show? Are we to believe that from the pilot episode until now only a single year has passed? So in that single year George has fallen in love with Meredith, had sex with her, fallen out of love with her, fallen in love with Callie, married her, and fallen in love with Izzie? And Izzie has been in love with Alex, fallen in love with and gotten engaged to Denny, gotten kicked out of the program and then welcomed back, and is now over Denny and his death, and is in love with George? Meanwhile Christina has gone from afraid of committment to falling in love with Burke, getting pregnant, losing the baby, recovering, getting back together with him, moving in with him, gotten engaged and planned a wedding? Also Bailey has coached the interns for a few months, then gotten pregnant, given birth, been away on maternity leave, gotten back from maternity leave and opened up a clinic? And let's not forget Addison, who aborted Mark's baby before Bailey got pregnant, yet her due date was much later than Bailey's? Alex, meanwhile, slept with Olivia, had a thing for Izzie for months, was jealous of Denny, fell for Addison and is now in love with "Ava"? And of course there's Mary Sue, who dated Derek, then found out he was married, pined for him, got back together with him and now is breaking up with him? Not to mention her mother got better from her Alzheimer's (sp?), then died, her long lost dad and step family appears and she suddenly has two sisters, and then her step mom dies?

And also during this one year they have seen more medical rareties than ten or twelve doctors combined do during an entire career. Also there's been a huge train crash, a bomb in a patient, a ferry crash (complete with a sort-of suicide attempt by Mary Sue), Izzie cutting the LVAD, Bailey's husband needing brain surgery, a crazy gunman has gotten loose in the hospital, they had a touch of plague, George's dad has died and... well I know I've forgotten something.

And they wonder why people say this show is hopeless...

Oh, and also... Mary Sue's sister just HAPPENED to be accepted at SGH? Wow, what a small world indeed...moreless
  • The interns' test grades come in. Adele reveals something to Richard. Rebecca's husband comes to see her. Burke and Yang prepare to get married George gets some bad news. Richard chooses the next chief or surgery.moreless

Wow, what a season finale. There were so many things revealed in this episode, it was so emotional. I really have to say the writers of this show are just absolutely amazing. Joe and his boyfriends' surrogate mother is fine after passing out in the last episode. The team saves the babies and her. Adele gets rushed to surgery because she may be having a possible miscarriage. Addison does everything she can but it unable to save the baby who turned out to be a boy. Adele reveals that Richard was in fact the father. I think we may see these two try to work things out. The chief makes his decision on both who he wants as chief resident, and who he wants as chief of surgery. for chief of surgery we find out that he didn't chose Mark, basically because he causes so much drama and fighting. We then find out that he doesn't choose Addison because she needs something to live for, she needs this job to give her a reason to get up in the morning, to have a life. The chief tells her that's why she didn't get the job, and that if she needs that position for a reason to get up then she needs a new job or a new life. He then turns down Burke for the job because of the obvious reason of the whole tremor episode with his hand after being shot, and also because Burke acts like he always knows everything and that he's perfect. The cheif told him he's not perfect and he doesn't know everything. He finally names Derek as chief, who in turn tells the chief that HE should continue to be chief, to do it all over again but do things differently this time around. In the race to see who is going to be cheif resident, Mark basically congradulates Bailey and asks her how it feels. We find out that the chief actually picked Callie, which i don't understand. I remember thinking "What, why? Why didn't Bailey get the job?" Although i like Callie, that kind of made me sad and a little confused. The interns' test results come in and we find out that everyone passed, everyone but George. I guess he'll be kissing that job at Mercy West goodbye. When he asks Bailey what he can do, she tells him he can either basically drop out of the program, or he can repeat his internship. George doesn't want to do that, but i wonder if he will? With all of this going on, Izzie tells George she's in love with him and hope he's in love with her, and Callie tells him she wants to have a baby. He tells her if she really wants to then they can do it. George tells Izzie he'll talk to her at the church where Burke and Yang are getting married. George never shows, and Izzie is still sitting in the church waiting i think still for George unless she was just in shock that he didn't show up, and she didn't realize Callie notices her there after all the people left. This was after Callie told Izzie that she was named chief resident, and that her and George were trying to have a baby and were actually together that very day. I don't think it's right that they should be trying to have a baby, especially since George hasn't come clean to Callie yet about Izzie. Ok, so i thought everything that was being done to Cristina to get ready for the wedding was funny. After her eyebrows got shaved off it was just hilarious. I cannot believe that Burke left her...I think he's really gone for good. I guess he felt that he was trying to change her and that she wasn't really sure that she wanted to marry him. Grey tells everyone that they can leave, it is over. After her earlier confrontation with Derek, i'm pretty sure she just told him it was over between them too. She winds up at Cristina's apartment when Cristina starts freaking out because Burke took all most of his valuable and sentimental things, and she starts crying because she knows he's gone. Then she says "i'm free" and starts freaking out, but i don't know if she was freaking out because he was gone, or if she was freaking out because she was actually relieved. Rebecca's husband shows up and she doesn't really seem like she wants to be back with him. We find out that she really wants to be with Alex. Earlier in the episode i figured out that Alex fell for her. She gives Alex a very heartfilled speech about her feelings and that she wanted him to give her a reason to stay. He doesn't get right away that she's trying to say she wants to be with him, but she puts it bluntly after that. Alex shoots her down. He shows up at the church to sit next to Addison who he tries to hit on again, and she tells him that he doesn't want her, he wants Rebecca. He goes back to the hospital to talk to her but she is already gone. I knew that was going to happen. Also, Grey had been assigned to Adele in this episode, so they got to talk briefly. Adele said she watched Grey a lot when she was little, and they talked about Richard and Ellis a little bit. The episode ends with George cleaning out his locker, and the new interns all walk in. Most of them leave after a few minutes but one girl stays to talk to George. We then find out the girl's name is Lexie Grey.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Just like last season's finale, Derek and Meredith are both formally dress, he's in a suit, she's in a black dress, and they are in a room alone, together. Only in this season's finale, they are fighting, not having sex.

    • In many parts of this episode, Webber talks individually with doctors from the regular cast. That also happened in the previous season finale Losing My Religion.

    • Goof: Last episode, Adele said she was 51. In this episode, Addison is talking about Adele and says that pregnancy at age 52 is risky. Unless it was Adele's birthday.....she can't be 52 and 51 at the same time

    • At the end of this season's premiere Meredith helps Izzie remove her prom dress and at the end of this season finale Meredith helps Cristina remove her wedding dress.

  • QUOTES (33)

    • Meredith: Do you remember your vows?
Cristina: Yeah, I wrote them on my... (looks at her hand) Oh, my God, I scrubbed in and the vows were on my hand... I scrubbed off my vows.
      Meredith: Oh, okay...um...
Cristina (panicing): Okay, hello, I scrubbed off my vows! I-- I can't do this. I don't-- I don't have anything on my hand! There are no words in my head, I have no vows, no vows!
Meredith: It´s okay, it´s going to be okay...
Cristina: You now what? Stop saying that! Will you say something else?
      Meredith: Like what?
Cristina: Say something that is gonna help me!
      Meredith: Okay! Okay! I...
Cristina: Meredith! Please, you know what? Say something... Say.. I don´t know, I don't know what, say... say... Okay. Say what I would say to you if you were me...
      Meredith: Okay!
      Cristina: Good.
      Meredith: Got it!
      Cristina: Good, go.
Meredith: Stop whining! This is your wedding day, you will go down that aisle and you will get married! If I have to kick your ass every step of the way to get you there... you will walk down the aisle, you will get married. Do you hear me, Cristina? We need this! We need you to get your happy ending...
      Cristina: Okay, I´m ready.
      Izzie: Alright then.

    • Izzie: Did you see George in there? I didn't see him.
Callie: He's probably gonna be late. We sorta had a big emotional day.
Izzie: Oh, really? Did-- Did something happen between you two? I mean...
Callie: No, it's just that I was named Chief Resident.
      Izzie: Oh.
Callie: And plus, we decided to have a baby.
      Izzie (shocked): A baby?
Callie: Yeah, we're trying. We tried today in fact.
      Izzie: Wow.
      Callie: Yeah... big day.

    • Burke: You okay?
Derek: Fine. You need anything? A mint? A getaway car?
Burke (smiles): If it's the chief thing, don't worry about it. You deserve it.
Derek: Richard didn't pick me to be chief.
Burke: We all assumed... Well, who did he pick?
      Derek: I don't know, it wasn't me.
Burke (pause): You really don't... look so good.
Derek: Meredith and I, we might not make it. I think I want it more than she does. But, today's your day, it's all about you today.
Burke: You really are a good best man.
      Derek: I try.

    • (they are all getting ready for the wedding)
Alex: Does anyone have any deodorant?
Cristina: Uh, you're not putting my deodorant on your hairy armpits.
Izzie (penciling in Cristina's eyebrows): Uh, don't move or you're gonna have a unibrow. And there's some in my locker.
George (indicating his jacket): Closed? Open?
      Meredith: Closed. You look dashing.
      Izzie: You look great.

    • Bailey: One cut, and then your gone. One. (Cristina makes the cut)
Meredith: We gotta go now, Cristina. (Cristina is still holding the scalpel)
      Bailey: Grey...
Meredith: Put the scalpel down, Cristina.

    • Meredith: Dr. Bailey.
      Bailey: Yeah, what?
Meredith: Cristina needs to cut something. I can't really explain it in a way that won't make you glare but... they took her eyebrows and they called her a Burke. She really needs to cut something.
Bailey: Yang, go... do getting married things. Get outta this hospital.
Cristina: Hey! (Meredith looks scared at her outburst, Bailey glares) I mean... (nicely) Hey. I... I -- You have to let me cut because I am standing here, eyebrowless, with no diginity left. I am a surgeon, Dr. Bailey. But right now I don't feel like one, I feel like -- like somebody else. Do you know what that's like to not feel like yourself?
      Bailey (softly): Yeah.

    • George (about having a baby): Is this really what you want? (Callie sighs) 'Cause if it's really what you want, we could do it.
      Callie: Really?
      George: Really.
      Callie: Okay, wait... really?
      George: Yeah.
Callie (starts to cry): Wait, oh my god, really? Really? (they kiss)

    • Richard: It's probably unfair, but I hold you to a higher standard. And you let me down this year, Preston. After you got shot, the tremor. This job is about making the tough calls. Sometimes the toughest call you can make is admitting when you're in over your head. You don't do that. You know a lot, Preston. You're one of the best surgeons that I know... One of the best men. But, you're not perfect, you don't know everything. I wanna give you the job, I want to... but I can't. (Burke gets up) Preston...
Burke: I have a wedding to get to. (leaves)

    • Adele: We've met before. You probably don't remember, you were little. My husband always flirted with your mother. I didn't wanna see that, so I watched you a lot. I watched you grow up, you turned out well. I'm sorry about your mother.
Meredith: I'm sorry about my mother too.
Adele: It wasn't your fault. Maybe it wasn't anyone's fault. We got married at 25 thinkin' that this was it. Happily ever after, maybe there is no happily ever after.

    • Richard: I never got the sense that you really wanted the job. It seems to me that you got into the race to play out some kind of unfinished business you have with Derek.
Mark: I was in this to win... sir. I don't know if he's your new chief, but if he is, he got there because I made him fight for it.
Richard: You made 'em all fight for it.
Mark (scoffs): So, I'm not gonna be chief?
      Richard: No, you're not.

    • Bailey: Okay, listen up. O'Malley, you're with Shepherd and Sloan, Stevens you're with Burke and Karev you're with Addison, go. (the three of them leave) Grey, you're with the chief's wife.
      Meredith: The chief's wife?
Bailey: Is pregnant. Yes, I did say pregnant. (Meredith looks shocked) I recommend that you loose the shocked look and try for something a little more... dignified. Go. (Meredith leaves)
      Cristina: Who am I on?
Bailey: Uh, I didn't page you. Go home and get some sleep.
Cristina: Yeah, but I'm here already, so...
Bailey: You're getting married in less than 12 hours.
Cristina: Well, uh, Burke's getting married too and he gets to operate.
Bailey: There's only one Preston Burke.
Cristina: There's only one Cristina Yang.
Bailey: I've given you the day off, the whole day. It's a kindness, take it. It's your wedding day. There will always be more surgeries.
      Cristina: But...
Bailey: Really? What would you rather be doing prepping a patient or prepping for your wedding? Go home.

    • Cristina: Did you pass?
Meredith: You bet your married booty I did.

    • Addison: I don't understand.
      Richard: It's not you.
Addison: No, I understand that part. What I don't understand is why. I need this job, Richard. I need it more than the others.
      Richard: Addison...
Addison: No, I need a reason to stay here. I need a reason to get up every morning. I need to get up and not care if it's raining or that I'm 39 and alone.
Richard: That's why. If you need a job to give a new life you either need a new job or a new life.

    • Ava: I like the suit. The suit is way better than the scrubs.
Alex: Thanks. Hey! I passed my intern exam.
      Ava: Good! That´s good!
      Alex: Yeah.
Ava: Got discharged. Me and the baby.
Alex: Oh, come on! You just- you just had brain surgery, you´re still on antibiotics...
Ava: My body´s been signed off on by plastics, cardio, orthopedics, neuro and OB. And- And also my teeth got the blessing from, wait I can say this, prosthodontics.
Alex: Yeah, but there´s still your memory...
Ava: You know how I know my memory is fine? Because I can say prosthodontics.
      Alex: Yeah, but the baby...
      Ava: Discharged. By peds.
      Alex: Yeah, but...
Ava (closes the door): I have every reason to go, and -- and -- and yeah, I´m scared, and yeah this is moving at warp speed, and yeah I´m freaking out, but Jeff is good, and Jeff is the father of my child, the man is out buying a car seat right now, and the minute he gets back... I have every reason to go, because medically there´s no need for me to stay... medically....
Alex: Oh, yeah, okay, then I´ll just check the chart, we´ll see what...
      Ava: Damn it!
      Alex: What?
Ava: Are you... do I have to spell everything out for you? Did you sniff too much glue as a child? I´m asking you something here!
Alex: What do you want from me?
Ava: I- I want you to give me a reason to stay, a real reason... Jeff is a decent guy, good decent guy, but to him I´m Rebecca and I don´t know if I am Rebecca anymore... you know me, you knew when I couldn´t even speak who I was. You named me Ava and I was more me as Ava, than I´ll ever be as Rebecca... Look I have every reason to go back to my life and I will, unless you... Alex, I´m asking you to give me a reason to stay here, a reason from you...
Alex: Jeff loves you, he is a decent guy...
Ava: Alex give me a reason...
Alex (walks over to her): I think you should stick with the decent guy... (Alex leaves and Ava stays in her room crying)

    • Richard: Congratulations, you'll make a fine chief... Derek?
Derek: I'm not the best man for this job. You're the best man for this job.
Richard: What are you talking about, Derek?
      Derek
: A good chief learns from his mistakes. I'm still working on that, but you... If you had a chance to do it all over again, you'd do it differently. Go ahead. Do it all over again. You're the best man.

    • Meredith: If you wanna break up with me so you can see other women, just do it! Don't tell me you met another woman. Just end it, if that's what you want.
      Derek: I can't...
Meredith: Sure you can, here's how it goes: "Meredith, I don't wanna see you anymore. Meredith, I don't love you anymore."
Derek: Meredith, I do love you, don't you see? Don't you understand? You're the love of my life. I can't leave you, but you are constantly leaving me. You walk away when you want, you come back when you want. Not everyone, not your friends. You leave me. So I'm asking you... if you don't see a future for us, if you're not in this, please, please, just end it because I can't. I'm in it. Put me out of my misery.
Meredith: I... I can't. I... I... Cristina is getting married. I have to go make sure she gets married.
      Derek: Meredith?
Meredith: I really need to make sure she gets down that aisle.
Derek: Let's go, we're running late.

    • (Izzie walks into the locker room, where George is getting dressed for the wedding and stands in front of him)
      George: What?
Izzie: Ah, hold on a minute. Just wanna make sure no one is around so I can say this.
George: We said everything we needed to say...
Izzie: Shut up. (she grabes his tie and starts tying his tie for him) I am an optimist. I am hopeful. I am not sure...
George: Look, I can do this myself.
Izzie: Let me speak. Because I'm your best friend and because I love you, if what you want is to be with Callie, then I would do anything in my power to support you and help you make your marriage work. And because I'm your best friend and because I love you, I also have to say... that I'm in love with you... I'm in love with you. I can't promise a future, I can't promise perfection because we're us and I'm me, and who knows what would happen. But in my heart, I'm sure. I'm in love with you, George, and I hope you're in love with me too... Say something... (everyone comes rushing in the door to get ready for the wedding)

    • Cristina: Meredith...
Meredith: Ohh, you are not gonna believe... Derek met a girl, in a bar, and he flirted with her. And he told me. You know, no big deal, just thought I should know...
      Cristina: Meredith...
Meredith: I´m not exaggerating. He didn't even hint. He just told me.
Cristina: Meredith, you know how sometimes it´s about you and sometimes it´s about me? This is really, really about me...
Meredith (turns around to see that Cristina has no eyebrows): Whoa!
Cristina: Momma took my eyebrows. She took my eyebrows and now I am a Burke!

    • Meredith: Hey.
      Derek: I have a surgery.
Meredith: I heard you are the best man.
      Derek: Yeah.
Meredith: Well... maid of honor, best man, kind of perfect...
      Derek: Yeah.
Meredith: I know I haven't been myself lately, but I am me again, so I was thinking maybe you should sleep over, because the me that I am is horny for the you that you are.
Derek: I met a woman last night. (they stop walking)
Meredith: You met a woman last night?
Derek: At Joe´s. Nothing happened. She was pretty, I noticed, and we talked.
Meredith: You met a woman last night.
      Derek: Yeah.
Meredith: So, should I be worried or something?
Derek: Should you be worried that I met a woman? No. Should you be worried that for me flirting with that woman was the highlight of my week? Yes, you should be worried or something... (Derek walks away and Meredith stands there looking at him)

    • Lexie: Hey.
      George: Hey.
      Lexie: We're the new interns.
      George: Yeah.
Lexie: Well you look seasoned and wise. Got any advice?
George: No. (as an afterthought) Learn how to do an appendectomy start to finish before you first day.
Lexie: Okay. (noticing George's empty locker) You're leaving?
      George: Yeah.
      Lexie: Better offer?
George: Just ah, you know? Life.
Lexie: Yeah. Anyways, good luck with…life, Dr...
      George: My name is George.
Lexie: My name is Lexie. Lexie Grey.

    • Cristina: He's gone.
Meredith: I – I don't think he's gone. His stuff is still here.
Cristina: No. His trumpet was here. His entire Eugene Foot collection, vinyls and CDs. His grandmother's picture was by the bed. His lucky scrub cap was hanging on the door. He's gone. I'm – I'm free. (she starts crying) Damn it. Damn it, damn it, damn it! (gasping, she grabs at the chocker necklace) Oh god, take this off! Take it off, take it off!
Meredith: Stand still, just for a minute. (Cristina indicates the dress) I'll get scissors.
Cristina: Help me, help me! (Meredith cuts the wedding dress off and holds Cristina, who is sobbing uncontrollably)

    • Cristina: I'm ready, I'm fine. Meredith talked me down. Go, go, go, I'll be right behind you.
      Burke: I'm sorry.
Cristina: Oh, no, I can do this. I had a momentary freakout, but now I'm fine. I can do this.
Burke: But you don't want to do this. I'm up there waiting for you to come down the aisle, and I know you don't want to come. I know you don't want to come but that you'll come anyway because you love me. And if I loved you, if I loved you, not the woman that I'm trying to make you be, not the woman that I hope you'll become, but you…if I did, I wouldn't be up there waiting for you. I would be letting you go.
Cristina (shocked): I am wearing the dress. I am ready. And maybe I didn't want to before, but I want to now. I really think I want this!
Burke: I really wish that you didn't think. I wish that you knew.

    • George: Dr. Bailey.
Bailey: You didn't go to the wedding either.
      George: No.
      Bailey: I'm…so sorry, George.
George: So…what do I do now?
Bailey: You fail your intern test, you have two options. You can walk away from being a surgical resident altogether, or you can start from the very beginning.
      George: Repeat my internship? No. I can't. I can't.
Bailey: Did I…did I fail you, George?
George: No. No! I failed you.

    • Addison: I always found it confusing. If you know both the bride and the groom whose side do you sit on?
Alex: I just look for the hottest chick in the room and sit next to her.
      Addison: Stop.
Alex: Wanna ditch the reception, grab a drink instead?
Addison: Stop it! You don't want me.
      Alex: Maybe I do.
Addison: No you don't. You want Ava.
Alex: She's not Ava anymore, she's Rebecca now and I barely know her.
Addison: Look at me. Look at me! You suck. To me, you suck. I kind of…hate you. But Alex, we do not get unlimited chances to have the things we want. And this I know. Nothing is worse than missing an opportunity that could have changed your life. And no matter what her name is, she'll always be Ava to you.

    • Addison: You nervous?
Burke: No, not really. More excited. Well, except about my vows. I wrote them myself. And I don't know. They may be too…I want them to be right.
      Addison: Well, let's hear 'em.
      Burke: Now?
Addison: You got a room full of women. Try 'em out on us.
Burke (after a pause): Cristina, I could promise...to hold you, and to cherish you. I can promise to be there in sickness and in health. I could say, 'til death do us part. But I won't. Those vows are for optimistic couples. The ones full of hope. And I do not stand here, on my wedding day, optimistic or full of hope.
      Addison: Okay, umm...
Burke: I am not optimistic. I am not hopeful. I am sure. I am steady. And I know... that I'm a heart man. I take it apart, I put 'em together, I hold them in my hands. I am a heart man. So this, I am sure: you are my partner, my lover, my very best friend. My heart, my heart, beats for you. And on this day, the day of our wedding, I promise you this: I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands. I promise you me. (Addison sighs) Too trite? Because I can rewrite it...
      Izzie (teary-eyed): No. No, it's...
Addison: I think I speak for every woman in this room when I say, dump her. Dump Yang and marry me. (everyone laughs)

    • Addison: How'd the reunion go with Jane Doe's husband?
Alex: Whatever. He cried like a baby. She looked bored.
Addison: Don't go overboard with compassion, Karev.
Alex: She's not even sure if she wants to stay with the guy. It's complicated.
Izzie: It's not, actually. Complicated. They're married. She took a vow. You don't mess with vows. Married is married. Game over. So freakin' over. (everyone gives Izzie strange looks) Just an opinion.

    • Derek: You're a lucky man, Burke. Cristina's great. She's there, she's sure, she's willing to commit. You're a lucky man.
      Burke: And you're not?
Mark (walks in, to Burke): There he is! T minus five hours. And how's the best man, up to the challenge? I was an excellent best man.
Derek: Worst case scenario, I sleep with your wife in ten years.

    • (Meredith is wrapped up in a toliet paper wedding dress while Callie writing Cristina's vows on her hand)
Cristina: You know, I thought I was gonna hate this party game thing, but it's kinda great. Can we set her on fire after?
      Meredith: No, we cannot.
Callie: Hey, these wedding vows are not all gonna fit on here.
      Cristina: Write smaller.
Callie: Hold still please, 'vow' just became 'cow'.
Izzie: You don't need vows on your hand. When you get up there, just speak from the heart.
Cristina: Izzie, the heart is an organ. It pumps, circulates blood, and gets clogged from time to time. It does not, however, speak. It doesn't have tiny little lips on it.
Izzie: Well, you're all glass totally empty.
Cristina: I'm gonna like getting married. It's the wedding part that's ridiculous. (they all get paged)
      Izzie: Party's over.
Cristina: Hey, mine didn't go off. Piece of crap.
Meredith: You can do this, right?
Cristina: Become a piece of chattel, sure looking foward to it. (Cristina starts helping Meredith unravel the toliet paper wedding dress)
Meredith: No matter what, you're walking down that aisle today. I need you to go down that aisle.
Cristina: Is the toilet paper cutting off your circulation?
Meredith: You and Burke, it's a sign. It's a sign that people like you and me can do this. Be healthy, be happy. You marrying Burke restores my faith in me.
Cristina (sarcastic): Oohhh, I get it! My wedding's about you.
      Meredith: Yes.

    • (After Burke left Cristina at the alter)
Meredith (addressing everyone at the wedding): It's over. You can all go home now. It's over. So over.

    • Richard: Oh, I thought... I thought... for a second I'd lost you for a minute. (pauses) Um, do you wanna call somebody, or maybe I could...
      Adele: No, no one.
Richard: Well, the father of the baby, maybe you wanna...
      Adele
: He doesn't even know about it, I didn't even tell him. I, uh, I think I misjudged him. I thought he'd go running for the hills, but he's a much better man than I thought. He'll get over his initial judgments and he'll sit with you and he'll make you drink your water...(Richard realizes it's him)
      Richard
      : Adele...
      Adele
      : It was a boy.

    • Callie: What I am about to say is, uh, is crazy, and I-I-I am not responsible. I-I am saying this against my will. Because I am a surgeon, okay? I-I-I love my job, I love my life exactly as it is, okay? Exactly as it is. Do you understand exactly what I am saying?
      George: Not really.
Callie: I have no desire to house a human in my body for nine long months and then – and then – and then push it out and raise it. None. Zero.
      George: Okay?
Callie: Except housing a human for nine long months is all I can think about. It – It- The thoughts are invading the surgeries I love and it's – it's – it's hormonal. It's – and horrible. But it is happening…to me.
George: You want to have a baby?
      Callie: Apparently.
George: There's a guy with an axe in his head.
Callie: Right. So go. I'm a freak. Just go. Just run. Just… please.

    • Alex: The ferry crash was on the news everywhere. Your wife goes missing, how could you not look for her?
Jeff Pope: I thought she left me. We got into a fight that night, she tried to tell me how unhappy she was and I shut her down. I didn't look for her when she was missing, but what's worse is... I didn't see her when she was there. I can't imagine what it must have been like for her. Her face must've been lookin' like it was broken.
      Alex: She was beautiful.

    • Richard (opening voiceover): Being Chief is about responsibility. Every single surgical patient in the hospital is your patient, whether you're the one who cut them open or not. The scalpel stops with you. You need to be able to look at a family, and tell them your team did everything they could to save someone's child, their husband, their wife. You get caught up taking care of other people's families, and the responsibility, it makes you... You take care of other people's families, and you sacrifice your own.
