Episode Summary

The new batch of interns find themselves involved in all the drama at Seattle Grace: Meredith asks Heather to go above and beyond to help fix Derek's hand; Cristina starts a healthy competition between Stephanie and Leah, which inadvertently leads to a medical emergency for Cristina's patient; Alex sees Jo in a new light as they work to save a baby's life, and April teaches Shane a valuable lesson during "lumps and bumps" duty.

  • enough with the attitude, Meredith!

    5.0
I'm getting really sick and tired of watching Meredith act so mean towards the new interns. Her character was never mean, never had an attitude problem, so why is it in such full effect now?

I really do not like any of the new interns, and don't enjoy watching their struggles. I'm don't particularly enjoy watching interns fighting over patients and this pseudo competition thing going on between the two girls. Back when Grey's was about interns, they were actually good actors who we cared about. They new interns are ugly, shallow, competitive, vindictive and not fun to watch. Perhaps its because after all these years of watching Grey's Anatomy, I really don't want to start learning and caring about new characters, but what else can the writers do when they have so blatantly killed off so many beloved characters.

Overall, this was just an average episode, nothing special

on a side note, i guess nobody is allowed to say anything negative about Grey's Anatomy, or else they are just riddled with "thumbs down"moreless
  • Diversity gone amok

    1.5
Why is it that in this new batch of interns, not one is a white male? Are medical schools just not accepting white male applicants anymore? This used to be a great show, sort of like ER with romance, but now it's just a vehicle to showcase diversity and all things gay. I'm sure the fact that Shonda Rhimes is black and rumored to be gay has something to do with it.moreless
  • To juma1281

    7.0
Juma1281 said the writers killed off so many characters. They didn't. It was the actors who wanted to leave for show for whatever reasons they had, like Katherine Heigi who wanted to be full time it is normal that every year the hospital will have new interns. they need to integrate with old characters.

this episode is not great but enjoyable.
  • Refreshing

    10
After all the drama it's so good to see the hospital from interns' perspective again! It brought back memories of our beloved M-A-G-I-C team of early seasons. So much fun! Also we finally got some more information about new interns and their stories. Derek's sister seems to be a sharp one.

    Overall I loved it!

    • Meredith: (closing voiceover) There don't have to be harps playing or birds singing or rose petals falling from the sky. And there are definitely days when the romance is dead. But, if you look around, things are pretty amazing. So stop for a second. Enjoy the beauty. Feel the magic. Drink it in. 'Cause it won't last forever. The romance will fade. Things will happen. People will change. Love will die. But, maybe not today.

    • April: What are you doing here?
Ross: I told you I'd come help with the rest of your lumps and bumps today.
April: Who put you up to this? Because nobody slums it down here unless they have to.
Ross: I'm here because I want to be. All I ever wanted to be was a surgeon. And now Torres just chose me to scrub in on one of the coolest surgeries I'll ever see because of you. You gave me 27 solo procedures yesterday. At least one of them saved a woman's life. I'm grateful for this job and I'm grateful to you. I'm hardly slumming it. So I'm gonna glove up and I'm gonna help you with your lumps, and you're gonna like it.

    • Meredith: (about her pregnancy) So you know that?
      Heather: I do?
Meredith: Okay, let's be clear. You never heard anything. You know nothing. And you don't ever mention any of this to anyone, ever. You got it? Is there anything else you would like to say before we drop this subject for the rest of eternity?
      Heather: Congratulations?

    • Meredith: (opening voiceover) Most people hate hospitals. But not the interns. For them, the hospital is a magical place. It's poetic, the rhythm of the machines, the crackle of a trauma gown. It's a place full of promise, excitement, surprises. It's a place where dreams can come true.
