Who was the Episode MVP ?

No results found.
  • Grey's Anatomy tries to show how society works; and brings in Addison to try to save a ship that is sinking.

Everything was bad from the beginning.

The narration was horrid, nonsensical and didn't follow the line of the episode plot.

I disliked all the cases, and Addison couldn't save the ship from sinking, specially when she said "Nothing changed here, so I know I did well when I decided to go".

Actually, everything has changed so much that everything is kinda blurry.

Lexie's gang "coding" reminded me of what some groups do to isolate, or to close from the rest. It's what teenagers do. They seem so cool saying stupid groupal things, and thus believing they're better than the rest, only to deny that they really are empty people.

About this, what George says to Izzie is the last drop. Laughing and watching if your friend is laughing? I can assure that if Izzie weren't laughing, George would have stopped laughing...and that's a sign of a fake person. We all should laugh about whatever we want, and not care about what the rest may think, maybe only consider why we are laughing. So George really seemed fake here, like that one that tries to fit in a group, laughing about his other friends, or whatever, and forgetting the essence of his being.

Things I liked: Mer's reply to Callie's inquiery, Adisson's attempt to unearth Callie's tendencies, and potencial lesbian action. If you didn't notice Erica is a lesbian in episode 4x11, in this one you really do: now we understand why she won't let Cristina scrub in or whatever. But it's not an excuse for her to do so because it's unprofessional of Erica to let her out over avoiding the chance of falling for Cristina. Still, I think it's a good thing they bring in homosexuality issues. It could give the show an interesting turn.

Last week, Grey's showed us that we have to destroy other people to get to the top; this week, that we should fit in any group by any means necesary, especially forgetting about who we are. Are those the kind of values that are worth to follow? Should our society be based on this values?moreless
  • Addison and Rebecca returns and cause some havoc. Izzie feels left out and the emotional tumor patient has surgery.

This has to be my favourite episode. It has some great tunes and come with lots and lots of drama. I enjoyed seeing Addison again and I love how she caught on to Callie's relationship with Erica, (Callies reation killed me) got through to Izzie, teased Rose in surgery, tried to catch up with everyone and had the 'get Derek back' talk with Grey. I loved how George said that he missed Izzie (My Grizzie shining through) and Erica telling Yang off. The tumor guy kinda scared me with his sudden mood swings but I still loved every minute of the episode.moreless
  • OMG!!!

This was such a great episode!!! I just loved it!!!!! So we didn't get any development in the MerDerRose thing... but that doesn't matter.

I'm not a big Addison fan, but I did miss her. She was so great. And George and Izzie had a break, so the whole weird thing wasn't there and we got to see a little bit of the old Izzie. Which was good.

And the medical stuff was very good to. I have to admitt a got little emocional... but what can I say guys? I just missed Grey's very much. I think everyone was themselfs like they haven't been in a long, long time.moreless
  • A good character development episode with lots of drama

A good character development episode. Izzie finally gains confidence, when an HIV infected woman is pregnant and wants an abortion. Initially the woman is very angry at Izzie for suggesting that she keep the baby. Izzie gains her confidence and lets the couple know that there is a 98% chance that the baby will be ok if she follows her treatment correctly. The woman is very happy and decides to have the baby.

Rebbecca/Ava returns and tells Alex Karev that she is pregnant and he asks her if she is going to keep it or have an abortion. Not knowing how to handle the situation, he leaves for a surgery. The surgery he performs is on a baby with his heart on the outside of his body. The surgery goes well but Alex is staring at the baby and you can tell by the look in his face that he has feelings for the fact that Rebbecca/Ava is having a baby and you see him reaching out to touch her stomach in the end. Izzie gets the results back on Rebbecca/Ava and she is not really pregnant.

The Derek/Meredith saga continues. They are working together very well, but the tension between them is still there. You can tell that they still have feelings for each other.

Are Erica Hahn and Callie becoming a couple. Callie insists not and leaves the bar with Sloan near the end of the episode. I think they will end up a couple.

This was an outstanding episode with a lot of character development and drama. The brain tumor guy goes in for an experimental treatment/surgery and dies on the table. The baby with the heart on the outside of his body and his mother come out of the surgery alive, but there were complications.moreless
  • Addison returns to Seattle Grace Hospital, only to find that everything has been changed since she left. Shock and truth are out there in the air for our McHot...

I have never written a review for an episode of Grey's Anatomy, but I felt that this episode deserved a one of me because just of Addison' temporarily return to Seattle Grace Hospital... This episode can be marked as a truly proven Grey's Anatomy formula that held everybody at the end of their seats. Everybody, even Lexie, were in their elements. For the first time this season I didn't hate Callie anymore because she wasn't being mad or sad or anything. It was really funny that everything was pointing like that Callie and Erica were like an lesbian couple... I just think that Addison' return was just good for everybody because everybody needed to be a little jammed up because in the last episodes the tension burned down.. Addison has settled the things right, after discovering that Meredith and McDreamy broke up, for Meredith what might cause her wanting Derek back in the next episode (I hope). She even talked Erica and Izzie into good senses... Too bad that the tension between McHot and Karev suddenly dissappeared because before she left for L.A. there were so many signs that it might work out between her and our hot-headed guy...

But wait, since I'm writing this review, there came several plots into my mind that might be worse for the next episodes.. Yang's attitude is so dumb.. she just turned into a fembot who is that desperate to serve Erica Hahn everything she wants.. I mean, I really enjoyed her even the last three seasons but she's seriously drifting too far.. I was happy to have Rebecca back because I think that she and Alex might be a good couple but I'm worried after discovering that Rebecca might be not even pregnant.. Guess I'll have to wait to see the next episode how her reaction plays out..

I really enjoyed this episode after being held on the couch because it's just an episode of Grey's... This episode showed me that the formula of Grey's what worked that good in the first two seasons is still there.. I'm really wishing here that Private Practice has shut down it's production so that Kate Walsh could be back in Grey's Anatomy (Her contract guarantees a return to Seattle Grace if Private Practice flopped or cancelled)... There's bad points that I didn't like to see in this episode and good points that i like to see but i can't deny that this episode was really good written no matter of the bad points..

Go on! Go on! Shondra Rhimes, you can pull it off!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Derek's middle name is Christopher.

    • When inquiring about Callie's relationship with Hahn (specifically, whether or not they're a couple), Addison asks, "Are you performing in the Vagina Monologues now?" Actress Sara Ramirez, who portrays Callie, acted in The Vagina Monologues along with Tovah Feldshuh and Suzanne Bertish.

  • QUOTES (24)

    • Cristina: Okay, is it becaues I'm Asian? You don't like Asian people?
      Erica: Excuse me?
Cristina: Why won't you teach me?
Erica: You're not without skill. You're not without talent. So, stop seeking my approval. I'm not gonna tell you what a good little girl you are. It's not my job. And frankly, it doesn't make you any better at yours. (Cristina walks away)
Addison: Jeez. You were a little hard on her, don't you think?
Erica: I think she reminds me of me.

    • (The elevator doors open and Mark sees Addison, Meredith, Rose and Derek standing there. Mark laughs and gets on the elevator)
Mark (whispers to Derek): I bet you wish you'd taken the stairs right about now.

    • Addison: I do miss some of this.
Richard: I could put the paperwork through tonight. You could start work tomorrow.
Addison: ... I needed to come back, to see that it was right to leave. You need to fill my position.
Izzie (walking by them): I was Gandhi Dr. Montgomery. I was so freaking Gandhi, I kicked Gandhi's ass.
Addison (chuckles, to Richard): It's an L.A thing.

    • Addison: You seem sad, Miranda.
Bailey: We're not gonna do this. I can't share. I can't catch up with you. I can't talk. Becuase if I did, if I told you Tucker moved out, if I told you I haven't slept alone in 12 years, if I told you that my heart hurts so much, sometimes, that I want to rip it from my chest with my own little hands... I would fall apart. And I don't have time to fall apart. Not that I'm not happy to see you, I am. But I wish that you would go home so that the choice to talk would fall apart and go away.

    • Izzie: I think I've been hiding in the clinic.
      George: Yeah. Listen Izzie...
Izzie: I lost the contest. I couldn't hack cardio. I performed CPR on a deer.
      George: Izzie!
Izzie: I think I've been hiding.
George: You can't come play darts with us tonight.
      Izzie: What?
George: I shouldn't have to say this. You should get this.
      Izzie: Get what?
George: You're not an intern anymore. I'm not a resident, and that sucks, I'm trying to make the best of it. I'm trying to, you know, stop complaining and embrace what I have. And what I have is new friends who don't want to get drunk and play darts with their boss.
      Izzie: I'm their boss.
George: Yeah, you're their boss. You're in charge, and you should get that.

    • Addison: So who's the new mystery woman that Derek's dating? Who's the unlucky McRebound? (laughs, but nobody laughs with her) What? Is the whole 'Mc' thing over? Surely things haven't changed that much around here?
Bailey: Addison, the woman standing immediatly to your right, the one handing you the surgicial instruments...
      Addison: Hey!
Rose: Hey! Six dates, heavy petting, lots of tongue. Good guy. Scalpel?

    • Izzie: Dr. Montgomery? Will you do me a favor? Will you talk to my patient?
Addison: I don't work here anymore, Stevens.
Izzie: She's pregnant and HIV-positive and she thinks she has to terminate the pregnancy.
      Addison: She doesn't.
Izzie: I know she doesn't, and it's not my area of expertise.
Addison: I don't work here anymore, Stevens. If I worked here, I'd be peforming surgery after surgery, after surgery. I might even get back with my husband, who's apparently on the market. I'm not saying that I want to get back with my husband. It's just that things were simpler with him, than the messy, messy single life I am currently living. Wihch was not my point by the way. My point was... that I no longer work here. Which means, that you need to pull your face out of the potato chips, and go tend to your patients yourself. (takes the bag of chips from Izzie and starts eating them) You're a fighter, Stevens, what happened?
Izzie: I lost a lot of fights.
Addison: Well, time to get back up. Go. Be the change that you wanna see in the world. (starts to walk away)
Izzie: Did you just quote Gandhi to me?

    • Cristina: I would like us to talk to today. I would like us to talk because I care and I, uh, want to know things and I have 15 minutes to hear about your feelings. So, Alex. (Alex is sipping from a straw) Alex you look thoughtful. I'm very interested to hear... I mean, uh, what are you thoughts? (Alex just continues to sip from the straw, ignoring her) So, Izzie. Your thoughts, your feelings.
      Izzie: Honestly?
      Cristina: Uh huh.
Izzie: I'm a little worried about my friend Alex over here because his Jane Doe girlfriend keeps showing up like something out of Fatal Attraction.
Alex: Her name is Rebecca Pope and she's not my girlfriend.
Izzie: Really? You guys haven't had sex at all? Recently?
Alex: She's married, okay? She has a husband.
Cristina: Well, does it hurt that she's married? I mean, does that hurt your heart?
Meredith: What's the matter with you?
Cristina: I'm trying to talk girl.
Izzie: Well, you coded. Right? (laughs, everyone looks at her) What? That's the new slang, everybody's sayin' it.
George (laughs): The way you just said that? That was you coding.
Izzie: Whatever. Unlike Meredith with her trials and Petri dishes and Cristina who has to practice talking like a human being, I actually care about patients! (gets up and leaves)
Cristina: I need the sparkle pager.
Alex: She's not giving you the sparkle pager.
Cristina: Well, you know what, I can't talk girl, and I shouldn't have to talk girl, 'cause I diagnosed the patient. I need the pager. (takes it off the table)
Meredith: Stop! You can't have it. (they fight over the pager, Callie walks up)
Callie: Did anyone ever think you two were a couple?
Meredith: No, because we screw boys like whores on tequila.
Cristina: Then we either try to marry them or drown ourselves.
      Callie: Huh.
Cristina (whisper to Callie): Make Hahn let me scrub in or I'm making you move out.
      Callie: Wh--
      Cristina: Desperate times...

    • Cristina: She's no longer aloud in my apartment. No more tea parties or wine parties or whatever you two have.
Callie: What? What are you talkin' about?
Cristina: Hahn. She's completely unfair. She refuses to teach me. I got in at Mass Gen, I got in at John Hopkins. I could've gotten in anywhere, and she won't teach me!
Callie: Alright, look. Erica, she's a really good listener. She comes off as harsh at first, but she's got a really good heart, so just tell her how you feel, okay?
Cristina: Tell her how I feel? Well, I don't speak girl.

    • Alex: He's not prepared and I was tryin' to prepare him. They're having a baby and that baby's gonna be all screwed up because he's coming into a world where his parents are unprepared. They're talking about loving each other, as if-- as if that has anyhting to do with the ability to raise a baby. A sick baby! He's not prepared and I was trying to prepare him.
Bailey: Karev, right now, you're feeling all your feelings right out in the open. Do me a favor and stuff them back in. (Alex walks away)
      Addison: Interesting advice.
      Bailey: Don't start with me.

    • Addison: You broke up with Meredith Grey?
Derek: Well, we're doing a clinical trial together if that makes you feel any better.
Addison: Derek, I hugged her. Hugged her. And you're not even together with her anymore? What the hell happened? (Derek is silent) Okay, tell me about the clinical trial.
Derek: Well, if it doesn't go well, I'm killing people for sport. When I go into an OR, I can stop a bleed, I can remove a clot. I'm the expert, but in a clinical trial, I'm experimenting. Groping around in the dark. Hoping to do the right thing. She wants greatness from me. She's expecting greatness.
Addison: Okay, seriously, Derek, what are you doing?
Derek: I'm seeing somebody else. She's lovely. She's really lovely.

    • George: Hey you paged me?
Izzie: O'Malley! 'Sup, party dude? You wanna know what I did last, George? I googled recipes, spent the night with a search engine.
George: Oh, but that was just... It was so spontaneous. I... didn't think you'd hang out with interns.
      Leo: Code.
George: Code. (they fist pound, Leo walks off)
      Izzie: What is that?
George: Oh, it's just somethin' we came up with, well he came up with it. "You coded." (laughs) It was really funny after 7 or 8 shots.
Lexie (walks up): Hey, so we're all set for tonight.
      Izzie: Tonight? What's tonight?
Lexie: Oh, um... The interns, we're just having a little darts tournament thing at Joe's.
Izzie: Oh my God, I love darts.
George: Oh, do you- do you wanna come?
Izzie: Oh, absolutley! Yay! (George and Lexie walk away)
      Lexie: You so coded.

    • Erica: You and I have a lotta work to do on this little guy.
      Addison: You up for it?
      Erica: Always.
Mark: What about my work? I grew an amazing flap of the baby's own skin. Pretend all you want. But I know you're impressed.

    • Alex: Dr. Montgomery.
      Addison: Dr. Karev.
      Alex: Hey.
      Addison: Hey. (they hug)
      Alex: We're hugging?
Addison: Yep. I hug now. It's what I do... So, you're my guy?
Alex: You think I'd let anyone else in on a case like this?

    • Addison: Hey!
Meredith & Derek: Hey! (Addison and Meredith hug akwardly)
Addison: Wow, it's uh... It's great to see you guys.
      Meredith: How's L.A?
Addison: Yeah, it's great, it's the sun, and surfing. It's--
      Derek: You surf?
Addison: No, I don't surf. ... So, anyway... Hey, look, I hugged you there! Did you see that I hugged you? You stole my husband from me and I hugged you. I've grown, I have, and I can be happy for the happy couple. Right? I'm all L.A. and like, one with myself, so I feel really... Yeah.
      Derek: Mmm.
Addison: Okay! I'm gonna go save a life now. Really, great to see you. Really! (walks off)
      Meredith: Happy couple?
      Derek: See you after rounds.

    • Meredith: First day. My clinic trial. My baby. All grown up.
Izzie: Nobody cares about your clinic trial or you're sick, sick patients who would probably rather be left for dead.
      Meredith: You're just jealous.
      Izzie (sarcastically): Oh, yeah!
Cristina: Anybody could come up with a clinic trial I could come up with a clinic trial.
      Meredith: Jealous.
Cristina: Not that it'd matter because Hahn wouldn't sign off on it. You know she won't even talk to me.
Izzie: She always enjoyed talking to me.
      Cristina: Really, about what?
Izzie: Her hopes. Her dreams. Then we would braid each other's hair.
Cristina: At least I'm not living in the clinic.
Izzie: Hey, I like the clinic. The clinic is my happy place.
Cristina: Can you use your sparkle pager to get me in on Hahn's surgery today?
Meredith: Oh, Cristina, I can't think about the pager becuase my clinical trial starts today. (Cristina moves to take the pager from Meredith)
      Izzie: Sparkle pager stealer!
Meredith; Okay, the both of you just need to take a moment and dig down and you'll discover that you're truly happy for me that I've found my path to medical history. (walks away)
Izzie: I'm not happy for her.
      Cristina: Oh, me either.

    • Bailey: Welcome back.
      Addison: I am not back.
Bailey: I know. Uh, charts, labs, a security key card and key to the doctor's lounge.
Addison (looks at her ID): Ah, look, they used my old picture. It's like I never left.
Richard: Addie! You're back. (they hug)
      Addison: I am not back.
Richard: Oh, you're back. You're gonna smell the stink and sweat of surgery and you're gonna be back.
Addison (to Bailey): See? Nothing ever changes around here.
      Bailey: Things change.
      Richard: Welcome back.
Addison (laughs): I am not back!

    • Callie: Why are you looking at me like that?
      Addison: Callie...
      Callie: Uh-huh?
Addison: Are you speaking the Vagina Monologues now?
      Callie: Wh- What?
Addison: I'm all for it okay? I think it's fantastic. Erica, I mean she seems great. I really do like her, actually, I do, and... are you?
Callie: You want to know if Erica and I are a... a couple? Because I defended her to Yang?
Addison: Because you seem like a couple, a really happy couple. (Callie laughs histerically)
Callie: That's-- that's just... that's insane is... is-is-is-is what it is.. I'm... I... I-I like penis. I mean, I'm a huge huge fan of penis. Ha! Hiliarious. You've been living in Los Angeles for way too long. Way too long. (laughs some more)

    • Meredith (closing voiceover): Giving birth may be all intense and magical and stuff, but the act itself: it's not exactly pleasant. But it's also a beginning... of something incredible. Something new. Something unpredictable. Something true. Something worth loving. Something worth missing. Something that will change your life... forever.

    • George (to Izzie): You know, whenever anyone says something really funny and I laugh I always look around to see if you think it's funny too. Even when you are not there, I look around.

    • Meredith: Hey, you're leaving already?
Addison: I have a plane to catch... (starts to leave and come back) I walk on the beach now, I buy aromatherapy candles, I'm very Zen, but I want to kick your ass so badly right now it is killing me.
      Meredith: Excuse me?
Addison: I'm talking about Derek. Derek Christopher Shepherd. Are you letting him get away? Because I swear to God Meredith, if you let him ride off into the sunset with that doe-eyed little thing... (Addison walks away)

    • Addison: You know, I thought it would be weird coming back. But I gotta say... I find it strangely comforting. That every thing is the same here. Okay, in L.A., people say things, but in Seattle, there's this strange culture of wordlessness, where in I am supposed to guess what one is feeling by the slight raise of an eyebrow or the beginnings of a frown. Any chance you want to tell me what's going on with you, Miranda?
Bailey: Just... a lot has changed since you left. Just a lot.
Addison: Oh, come on. Name one thing that's changed in this hospital.
Bailey: The clinic is actually making money. The Chief's wife left him. Derek and Meredith broke up. And I...
Addison: Whoa, whoa. Derek and Meredith broke up?
Bailey: Uh, like I said a lotta things have changed.

    • Meredith (opening voiceover): Great surgeons aren't made; they are born. It takes gestation, incubation, sacrifice... a lot of sacrifice. But, after all the blood, and guts and goo stuff are washed away, that surgeon you become... totally worth it.

    • Mark: There she is.
Addison: Just coming in to check on my patient's skin flap.
Mark: Well, amazing, right? I pulled a couple of stem cells from the baby in utero. Six weeks later, I have grown skin, like God.
      Addison: Nice.
Mark: What do you say we lock that door and tear one off for old time's sake?
Addison: This place is exactly the same. You are exactly the same.
Mark: Except now I grow skin for babies. Like God. (Addison laughs) C'mon, I'm horny. The nurses are shuttin' me down.
Addison: Awwww. Thanks for my skin flap.
      Mark: Is that an euphenism?
      Addison: Nope.

    • Episode Title: Piece Of My Heart

Piece Of My Heart refers to a song by Erma Franklin, which has been covered by artists such as Janis Joplin, Big Brother, The Holding Company and Faith Hill among other artists.
