Ryan is threatening Bud with a red-hot branding iron just seconds before Hank and Nick burst in the shop. However, when they arrive the iron is clearly cold.
Trivia: Bud's last name of Wurstner is finally given.
Bud: Oh god, oh god, help!
Ryan: (wielding a branding iron) Shut up!
Bud: If you think I'm going to stop screaming while you're doing that, you're crazy! Not that I mean to criticize.
Hank: So is Ryan a Grimm?
Nick: Not even close.
Hank: What is he?
Nick: Whatever he is, it's not what he wants to be.

Monroe: Oh boy, do we have trouble right here in River City.
Referencing the 1957 Broadway musical by Meredith Wilson, made into a movie in 1962. Con man Harold Hill rolls into the small town of River City, Iowa, and convinces the townsfolk to donate money so he can buy band instruments and uniforms. He has no intent of doing so, but falls in love with a librarian before he can flee with the money. One of the musical's signature songs is Ya Got Trouble, with the refrain, "You got trouble right here in River City!"
