I laughed almost all the way through in this episode of Grounded for Life. Donal Logue deserved some sort of an award back when this show premiere, "best new actor in a comedy series", something, because he was just great here. His back and forths with Lilly are always wildly entertaining, and you know you're watching Grounded for Life when Sean & Lilly are arguing over absolutely nothing.

Claudia comes home from her mothers to find Lilly barricaded in her room, the story unfolds when it turns out Lilly went to New Jersey to an amusement park to get drunk. The best flashback I would have to say is Eddie, Sean, and Claudia on the go-carts. For some reason, the interactions with the adults are just way more enjoyable.

It's just like Sean to pick them up only to rat out the kids that Lilly is with, wow, hilarious scene, just could not stop laughing. A great episode that unfolded amazingly, not surprising for Grounded for Life. Don't miss this installment, I commend Donal Logue in particular.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • This is the last time we see Eddie with a moustache, until the season 4's premiere.

    • In a half second shot, we see that the Finnertys have a dog. We never see him again.

    • When Sean has an argument with Lily in her room, you notice that the door to her room opens inward. So, it would be impossible for Sean to barricade her inside her room unless he was to switch the direction in which the door opens.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Sean: You know, hearing it out loud makes me realize I'm the worst dad in the world
Claudia: Please, you're not even the worst dad in the house. (Walt glares)

    • Claudia: How do two fourteen year old girls even get from Staten Island to the middle of New Jersey?
Walt: Well if their fathers have achieved a basic level of competence, they don't get there.
Sean: Dad, I don't need your help.
Walt: No, of course not, just let it play out. At some point the state'll intervene.

    • Sean: Then, all of the sudden, he decides he's Jackie Freakin' Chan!

    • Sean: That's when Security notices that they had smuggled in scotch in shampoo bottles.
Claudia: Shampoo bottles? That is a good plan... Any security guard who notices them should naturally assume they had come to the park to wash their hair.

    • Lily: You have literally pushed me off a cliff! You have literally pushed me to my death! I am literally dying. I am literally dead from embarrassment because of you!
Sean: Lily, you really need to look up the definition of the word 'literally'.
Lily: I am literally going insane!
      Sean: Alright! Good usage!

    • Sean: Hey! How can you even call this a theme park, man? I don't get it, ya know, because over here, you got, like, jungle park. Alright. But then over here, ya got this whole other park with the rat on a skateboard. Then you turn the corner and then its---Woah, Space Park 2000. Ya know? The year 2000, we're all gonna be living in space. Well, guess what? WE'RE NOT! So, what's the theme, man?! WHAT IS THE THEME?
      Security Guard: Ease up, man.
Sean: No, you ease up! I want you to tell me, right now, what the theme is!

  • NOTES (3)

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Sean: I'm not the one who hooked up with the Beastie Boys for an out of state drinking binge.

The Beastie Boys are a hip hop group from New York City. They are known for their party songs.

    • Walt:It's amazing how your credibility as a parent flys out the window when you look like ZZ Top.

ZZ Top is a power trio blues rock band from Houston, Tx. The bassist and guitarist are known for their long hair and beards.

    • Action Mountain High: Title

The title of this episode is derived from the song "Rocky Mountain High" by John Denver.
