In seasons one - four, it was during the present scenes, but not during the flashback scenes. In season five, it wasn't at all.

For the flashbacks in seasons 1 - 4, they did what most TV shows did when they have a flashback: They pre-recorded it and then presented it to the audience during the show so their laughter could be recorded.

I would say the show was taped without any audience and afterwards the tapes shown to people to record the laughter. Or the laughter is completely pre-recorded. The laughter sounds to artificial.

The way the show is shot there is no chance they recorded it in front of an audience.

Same happens to "How I Met Your Mother" - prerecorded and shown to the audience to record the laughter due to many flashbacks and fast location changes.

Nope, it most certainly was shot in front of an audience. If you buy DVDs they mention live audiences during commentaries.
