In this episode, Jason and Maggie are celebrating their 20th anniversary a few weeks late. This episode aired in early 1989, meaning they got married sometime in 1969. However in Season 2's "The Awful Truth," 1968 was quoted as being the year Jason & Maggie wed.
Maggie: What happened to the Winnebago?
Kate: Oh, your father swapped it for this with some pimp in Cincinnati.
Maggie: Mom, how do you know what pimp looks like?
Kate: I know every song ever recorded by Gladys Knight and the Pimps.
Jason: Does that mean your days on the road are over?
Ed: We're going to give retirement condo living a try. I want to know what it feels like to sit around and do nothing all day. It sure seems to agree with you.
Ed: Your mother doesn't suspect it?
Ed: And your dad?
Mike: Dad doesn't have a clue.
Ed: I know that, but is he onto the surprise party?
Kate: And Carol, you're looking so svelte and sexy. What made you decide to lose all that weight?
Mike: Hey, it was either that or we add onto the house.
Ed: Would you grab that other pound of bacon for me, Jason?
Jason: That was the other pound of bacon, Ed.
Ed: What? You guys have gone through both of them already?
Jason: Well, if you'd called and given, say, a day's notice in advance, I would've had a dead pig waitin' for you.
Ben: My girlfriend's coming, too.
Ed: Oh, you've got a girlfriend now, do you, Ben?
Ben: Yeah, it's pretty serious, too. She's the first girl I've ever met that doesn't make me puke.
Carol: Grandma, Wally, you're early!
Wally: Well, your grandmother thought you might need some help, Carol.
Mike: Yeah, she does. Any of you a plastic surgeon?
Laura: So, there are going to be, like, no people our age here whatsoever?
Ben: Well, my cousin might be coming. He's old, but he's very short.
Maggie: Come on, Jason, at least the meal was nice.
Jason: Oh, sure it was. I paid for it.
Maggie: I thought my dad was going to pick up the check.
Jason: Oh, he did. Then he handed it to me.
(Ed and Wally arm wrestle)
Ben: So, who're you rootin' for, Dad?
Jason: Well, let's see, now, uh. Ed is my father-in-law, Wally's going to be my stepfather soon, so, uh...
Laura: I think they're both going to bust a gut.
Jason: I can live with that.
Sandy: Nifty party.
Carol: Are you just saying that because my family are lunatics and you're too polite to be honest?
Sandy: Yeah, uh huh.
Ed: (giving a toast) I'm not very good at this, but here goes. I'll be the first to admit that I didn't think this marriage was going to work in the first place. I would have bet a week's pay that Maggie's marriage to Jason was going to end in disaster.
Wally: You weren't kidding. You're not very good at this.
Mike: (reading note on apartment door) "If you're a burglar, boy, have you got the wrong apartment. If it's you, Mike. I ran out to get pizza." (looks at pizza in hand) Well, at least we won't starve. "So come on in and make yourself at home. The key is inside Mr. Edison's invention." Edison? Hey, there's no phone around here!
The joke about Ed getting the Corvette in Cincinnati is a nod to Gordon Jump's previous role as one of the stars of the comedy series, WKRP in Cincinnati.
