In 2007 Cyrus married Alexandra Spaulding in an effort to keep from being deported. While Alexandra hoped that Cyrus would fall for her, like she was with him, Cyrus' feelings for Marina Cooper kept that from happening. However, they didn't stop him from teaming up with a crooked cop to steal millions from the Spauldings and many other wealthy families of Springfield, using a Spaulding fund raiser to do the deed.
Alan closes his laptop while arguing with Cyrus. However, a few scenes later, the laptop is open again, just in time for them to notice Lizzie and Bill are giving a press conference.
The headline in the Springfield Journal reads: "Lewis Walks on Kidnapping Charges."
Ashlee reveals that she never really had a steady boyfriend, she made the story up so Coop wouldn't think she was pining away for him.
Doris tells Ashlee that she doesn't remember anything that happened in the fire after "the smoke." Then, when she is giving Shayne his award, she mentions how happy she was when he "came through the fire."
Daisy's adopted father Jim died in a fire on December 22, 2000. Jim, who was married to Beth Raines at the time, saved Beth, Lizzie, and Daisy but when he ran back into the house to save baby James, the smoke and flames became too much for him. Jim was able to toss James out to safety but the flames consumed him. The fire was caused by the Lemay's Christmas tree.
Since Mel is Bill's lawyer, it seems odd that she didn't call to tell him that his trial started next week.
Shayne tells Reva he's worried about the new baby because of "what happened last time." The "last time" Reva was pregnant it was with Jonathan, not Shayne. When she was pregnant with Shayne, Reva suffered from Postpartum depression. Could Shayne have forgotten about his younger brother?
The headline in the Springfield Journal reads: "Spaulding-Lewis Shares Fall 29% on Fears of Macau Freeze Out."
The Springfield Journal issue that Bill reads has the headline: "Spaulding Heiress Rescued from Kidnapper." Although the headline was never shown close-up on screen, it is most likely from an episode at the end of November when Lizzie was rescued.
The Springfield Journal issue that Alan is reading was first seen on the December 12, 2008 episode. The headline reads: "Evidence Against Bill Lewis Continues to Mount."
The headline in the Springfield Journal reads: "Evidence Against Bill Lewis Continues to Mount."

According to his cell phone, Josh's work number is 202-555-6790. It is unclear, however, if that is the phone number of his former church or Lewis Construction.
Marina Nadine Cooper was born on the very day her parents finally got married. During their wedding on 5th Street, Eleni went into labor and gave birth to Frank's daughter just moments after they were married.
Marina has an umbrella that seems to disappear at will. She leaves Shayne and has no umbrella in hand. The very next shot shows her walking in on Mallet and Dinah with an umbrella in her hands. In the scene that follows, she is again without the umbrella.
The prologue of this episode is "performed" by Shayne.
On September 12, 2003, while driving home from a concert with Marina Cooper, Shayne Lewis got into a car accident with another speeding car. Shayne used his body to keep Marina from going through the windshield, but the act resulted in both swelling on the brain and partial paralysis. The other driver of the car turned out to be Josh Lewis, Shayne's father, who was speeding to the concert in order to bring Shayne home. Although the paralysis was temporary (at the time), Josh continues to blame himself to this day.
It's been weeks since Lizzie stabbed Grady. It seems impossible that the cut on his chest would still be bleeding after all this time.
Although he was born in 2000, according to Alan, James is now in 8th grade.
