  • A white woman refuses to accept her half-breed son, who Festus brings to her home wounded and needing help.

This episode is an incredible tale of mother/child
abandonment and reunification urgings. A white settler woman (actress: Hilarie Thompson) is captured as a teen by a Native Americans. In this life of captivity she is \"married\" and gives birth to a son. She is somehow \"freed\" from this tribe; and starts her life over without her son.

Her son is left to his own devices (father killed and abandoned by his mother) until he is apprenticed as a lawman. Years later, Hawk (convincingly portrayed by Brandon Boone) meets up with his mother and discovers her other family. Blissfully married with a teenage daughter and young son, the mother is horrified that Hawk and re-entered her life. She tells her older son
that she is not his mother, wants nothing to do with him, and forbides further contact.

In Dodge City on official law business, Festus
volunteers to aide Hawk is in pursuit of a trio of
    renegede Native Americans.

Festus is aware that something is amiss with this nice respectable woman who is acting bizarre while her husband is away on business. Yet, when he tries to communicate to Matt and Doc, he is quickly shunned asa gossip-monger.

When Hawk is shot by these bandits; his mother
reluctantly tends to his injuries - with the urging of her daughter - while Festus leaves for reinforcement.

It has a weird ending- with no resolve for the
    mother/son relationship. As newly-recovered Hawk
leaves Dodge City, the same day her husband arrives back in town from business. there is no reunification.
