Guest Star Steve Ihnat (1934-72) appeared in 11 feature films and 4 telefilms. Of Polish descent he came to Hollywood and broke into television after appearing in Pasadena Playhouse productions. He appeared in 6 episodes of Gunsmoke, this episode being his last. He directed the feature film The Honkers (1972) and was in Cannes for the Film Festival seeking financing for a project that he hoped to produce, when he died of a heart attack at the age of 37. He was survived by his wife, actress Sally Ihnat-Carter, a daughter and a son. He appeared in the films: Dragstrip Riot (1958), Passion Street U.S.A. (1964), The Chase (1966), Hourof the Gun (1967), In Like Flint (1967), Madigan (1968), Kona Coast (1968), Countdown (1968), Zig Zag (1970), Do Not Throw Cushions into the Ring (1970), and Fuzz (1972). His television credits include: Perry Mason, The Fugitive, Star Trek, Cimarron Strip, Name of the Game, Cade's County, and Mannix.
