  • Not as good as the games, or .hack//sign

    7.5
.hack//liminality is an interesting ova. Unlike the other shows/games in the series, .hack//liminality revolves purely around the outside world, instead of "The World", a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game.

Compaired to .hack//sign, the story is lacking much, but then again, it's supposed to be watched after playing each game it's packaged with. I guess that's where the rest of what it's missing is hiding. If they decided to make more episodes of this ova, I would welcome it, but that doesn't mean I would watch it. Compaired to .hack//sign, this ova is too short and leaves a lot to be desired.moreless
  • Offline Sci-Fi Fantasy

    10
Even though this series is short by four episodes, I think it was the greatest. We all want to know what's happening offline of .hack//SIGN. Three girls try to investigate the mysteries of the dot hackers being trapped in "The World." There were no player characters in the series. Just normal citizens solving inexplicable mysteries.

I sure wish these episodes were available on DVD. I would like to watch them again.
  • The plot of the OVAs complemented the game perfectly.

Liminality was a fantastic thing to include with the four .hack games. However, it wasn't in depth as I've come to expect of the .hack series.

The plot of the OVAs complemented the game perfectly. Events that happen in the OVAs appear in the news in the game, and even a character makes an appearance in the game.

Don't buy the games just for the OVAs. If you enjoy the games watch the OVAs, there’s some secret areas hidden in the subtitles of the OVAs to secret areas. If you don’t own a PS2 or enjoy the games, rent the games and watch the OVAs. They are worth watching, just not worth the $ to buy the game.

  • Amazing. I had a little trouble getting into it, but it was well worth it

First off, .hack//LIMINALITY confused me greatly at first. I watched all of the disks out of order. After watchin them in order, I fell in love with it. It is animated very well, has a very good story the goes along with the .hack GAMES (Which I love very much). Well worth anyone's time who can stand to watch something without any form of violence
