Not being a regular viewer of the show, but a fan of many of the cast, I almost turned off the episode because I thought it might be the same old tired half-hour.
I was happily surprised at the way that dating a single parent can be. Yes, DeeDee panicked, but any viewer might've under the circumstances. Still, while being sexy with Carter(and vice versa), she seemed willing to make friends with the girls too. If the girls had not been so obviously echoes of DeeDee and Mona,I'd've appreciated it more.
Phyllis's subplot was just an excuse for her to "get mad" and for the old stand-by excuse of husbands and boyfriends- "Honey, I was just trying to earn more money so I can afford to get you nice things!" That's why Phyllis was worried about your health, Ray- not enough trinkets? She was worried about you, lunkhead!
Still, the interaction between Phyllis and Big DeeDee was classic. Big DeeDee does absolutely have what I call The Handbag of Holding- anything you need can be found inside!
Overall, a good episode with plenty of tasty romance between Carter and DeeDee, enough to root for them to last.
