Richard Burton caused a tremendous storm in Britain when this was first televised there, saying that he had never admired Winston Churchill and regarded him as "a coward", amongst much other disparagement. One reason put forward for this outburst was that Burton had recently become engaged to Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia, who had, of course, lost her throne and been sent into exile when the Allied powers handed over Yugoslavia, and most of Eastern Europe, to the Communists at the end of World War II. (His engagement to the Princess was short-lived, and they never married.)
