Episode Summary

EDIT

Emma and William Peters and their young daughter, Sophie, move into an old house which has been empty for years. Unknown to the Peterses, Number 42, Colman Road, has not been lived in since an old man called Albert Clemens murdered his wife there. As severed hands and glinting kukris come at them out of thin air, while the house rains blood and the family cat is killed in a freak accident, the Peters family is terrorized. There is a shocking climax to the story when Sophie uses one of her birthday presents to... well, we had better not give the ending away!

To be honest, I didn't know what to expect from this television series. The Hammer Horror films of the 50s were brilliant and the 60s and 70s were also excellent, but how would the studio fare with an 80s treatment? Surprisingly well. I haven't seen much horror television other than the modern Masters of Horror series, since my field is mainly comedy, but this has to be the scariest and most disturbing television episode I have seen to date. The storyline, as well as the atmosphere, is on par with any professional horror motion picture from the 80s and prior.moreless
