EDIT
Get Well, Laura
AIRED:
It's morning and Laura's alarm clock is going off. Laura seems very tired. As the alarm continues going off, her Mom yells from downstairs about it. She sleepily punches the alarm clock off and goes back to sleep. The next thing she knows, her Mom is upstairs waking her up and showing her the alarm clock. More than thirty minutes have passed since she punched it off! She's going to be late for school. She gets ready and leaves the house in a hurry. Her Mom tries to get her to have some breakfast, but she says that there's no time. She quickly heads off to meet up with Kana to go to school. Laura's Mom complains that she'll be starved by lunchtime. At the clubhouse, Boss is complaining of a stomachache from eating too many sunflower seeds. Howdy, however, doesn't want to hear it. Boss has been doing this a lot lately and the ham-hams are starting to think it's a case of "the boy who cried wolf." Boss complains that nobody takes him seriously any more. Hamtaro arrives at the clubhouse and talks about Laura. She was up all night - and it's his fault! He says that he didn't mean to, but he just kept running around in his whiz wheel, full of energy. Maxwell tells him that he has to look out for Laura. Humans need an average of at least eight hours of sleep in order to function properly. Meanwhile, Boss is complaining about his stomachache. He says that he ate too many sunflower seeds. This causes Oxnard to comment that he wishes he could eat too many sunflower seeds. He says he's tried, but he can never eat enough. This causes Boss to wonder how anyone could envy him when he's feeling like he does. Maxwell and Hamtaro continue talking about Laura. He tells Hamtaro that he shouldn't have if he can't look after her. Hamtaro laments that he's a bad, bad hamster. At school, Laura has been having all sorts of problems. Most notably, when participating in a gym exercise, she seems to do okay, but then passes out after jumping over a hurdle. She's sent to the school nurse, who thinks that she might be getting a slight cold, but mostly she's just tired. She sends her home. Back at the clubhouse, Maxwell notes that Boss's coat has lost its normal shine and suggests that he might really be ill after all. Looking to help them, they decide that eating yogurt might be a good solution to calm his stomach. Both Hamtaro and Bijou agree that yogurt is good - they've seen their humans eating it. They keep talking about it, which finally causes Boss to demand some action. Oxnard says that he wants some yogurt, but is told that it's only for Boss since he's the one feeling ill. They head to Hamtaro's house, with foreshadowing casting its shadow as Hamtaro comments that he hopes nobody is home. At Laura's, they look around, but can't find the yogurt. It isn't in the normal place where it's kept. Then, Boss shows up, wondering why they haven't found it yet. They comment on his being up and about and Maxwell notices that the shine has returned to his coat. Howdy complains that he's lost his taste for yogurt. Boss calls himself a cured hamster. Then, Laura arrives home. Hamtaro is grilled on why she's home - isn't she normally in school? He says that she normally is. The ham-hams all scramble upstairs. Laura calls out that she was sent home from school early because she was sick. When nobody answers, she heads upstairs. Upstairs, she finds Hamtaro, who has returned to his cage. She lays down in bed, saying that she's dying for a nap. This comment causes the ham-hams to think that she has some kind of "nap disease." Hamtaro worries that he's made Laura terribly ill. Boss suggests that maybe they could get her some yogurt. But they still don't know how to get it, so that's out. They decide that maybe she has a fever and they should try cooling her down. They try fanning her, but that doesn't seem to help. Then, an ice-pack is suggested, but they're not sure how to get one. They decide to make one (well, a water pack at least) out of a leaf and water. They all head outside and have quite a time getting a nice leaf off of a tree. They finally succeed and create their "ice-pack." They place it on Laura's head and it seems to have an effect. She seems to be looking better. They're all gathered around watching her, then maybe decide that they'd better hide in case she wakes up. But then, she does wake up, just as they feared. They all quickly scurry off. Laura comments that she slept really well and feels like a million bucks. As she looks around, she finds some sunflower seeds of Oxnard's as well as the leaves on her head. She remembers "dreaming" about a bunch of hamsters all around her, but she figures it couldn't be real. She decides that maybe she herself put the leaf on her head, sleepwalking or something. That evening, Laura writes that she and Hamtaro were too busy sleeping to have any great adventures. Hamtaro, however, says that she can speak for herself and that he actually could use a good night's sleep.moreless
