The commercial break is back in its normal position, but there's a screen flicker during the fade-to-black after the first portion of the episode.
Laura: Today was fun. And tomorrow's going to be even better. Don't you think, Hamtaro? Hamtaro: Heke.
Pepper: You didn't mess anything up. Oxnard: Really?
Kana's Dad: You guys and your hamsters. Can't we talk about something else for once?
Oxnard: Cappy, open up. Cappy: About time. Oxnard: Thanks for covering.
Oxnard: (regarding Pepper) Doesn't she have the loveliest little carrier you've ever seen?
Hamtaro: Last one up is a cat.
Penelope: (noticing Kana, Laura, Dylan and Pepper) Ookwee! Pashmina: Penelope, we'll get you a treat later.
Pepper: You hams really crack me up!
Cappy: I wish I had a bigger hat.
Howdy: Well, I'll be a gerbil's uncle.
Oxnard: (to the ham-hams) You guys never liked Pepper in the first place!
Boss: We're counting on you, so keep your head! Cappy: Wait! Please don't leave me here! Ham-Hams: (all) See you later, Cappy!
Oxnard: If Pepper isn't coming, I just don't know what I'll do.
Pepper: (regarding Dylan) I told him to check the transmission before we hit the highway, but did he listen? No, I'm just a hamster!
Kana's Dad (Calling Dylan on the phone): Hey, Dylan, what happened to you? Have your plans changed? What? your car broke down? Oxnard: Cars can break down?
Dylan: (to Pepper) I've got my Milky Way story ready, but I wonder what story you would say if you could talk.
Howdy: My story's about this handsome ham-ham, yeah? And he's always getting stuck with this annoying ham-ham.
Dexter: That's enough party hats, Cappy.
Oxnard: (regarding Pepper) She knows how to have a good time no matter where we end up.
Dexter: (to Maxwell) That's not a story. You're supposed to make something up, not read a science book.
Hamtaro: I was busy figuring out what all these decorations are for.
Canada's YTV aired this episode as the premiere for the second season. But this episode is the last first season episode.
Canada's YTV aired this episode as the premier for the second season. However, unlike all the second season episodes on YTV, which used the second theme song, this episode used the original one.
First ever Hamtaro episode to premiere on Cartoon Network on a Saturday.
The old logo for ShoPro Entertainment was used.
No doubt heavily modified from the original Japanese, which was likely the cause of the extended delay. The Star Festival is changed to a "Milky Way" festival and, as usual, there is no mention of it being a Japanese tradition. The episode focus is on the Oxnard / Pepper storyline. Learn more about the Star Festival here. The story which Laura creates about "two star-crossed lovers" is actually a Japanese story. The gift for Pepper that Hamtaro is left carrying around is also a Japanese tradition and would normally be made of bamboo and contain papers with wishes and poems associated with the Japanese legend. Additionally, there is larger version of one of these in Laura's room during the journal scene at the end of the episode, but it's not commented on. The Star Festival is celebrated in Japan on July 7th.
Unaired in the original first season run, this episode was later picked up on the backend and added to the first season schedule, following Cartoon Network's run of the show's second season.
