As Laura's class is out for a jog, led by Mr. Yoshi, the ham-hams are hanging out in one of the trees up above. Their relaxing, enjoying themselves, when, down on the ground, Mr. Yoshi runs smack dab up against the chicken cage. He's still very scared of chickens, which gets him some teasing from Travis. Travis jokes that the chickens are escaping, causing Mr. Yoshi to become very scared. Travis urges him to calm down, saying that the chickens are still in their plan. Mr. Yoshi realizes that Travis was just teasing and says it's not nice of him. He comments that if only "she" were here, she'd know what to do. He's thinking of the girl who helped a while back when the chickens escaped. He can't stop thinking of her, but she didn't even give her name. Laura and Kana later on notice him thinking of her. Laura suggests that perhaps someday their paths will cross again. The girl ham-hams seem to be attracted to this story. They think it's the perfect love story, but Boss and Howdy aren't so sure. Nevertheless, Bijou thinks that they have to seek out this girl who rescued Mr. Yoshi. They remember her, that she wore a big red hat and a yellow vest. Just then, Elder Ham shows up, saying that he knows who they're talking about. So the ham-hams all follow them as he leads them to... a statue, with a red scarf. Howdy's not impressed, but Elder Ham tells them to wait. Sure enough, the girl soon shows up. The ham-hams learn from one of the street vendors she makes a purchase from that her name is Charlotte. Bijou thinks that it's a lovely name. Then, Charlotte walks off, when a limo pulls up to her. The driver of the limo says that he thought he'd give her a ride in case she wanted one. Charlotte says that she would prefer to walk, but the man informs her that her father wants to see her. Charlotte resignedly gets into the limo. The ham-hams wonder who the guy is, noting that he's "smooth with the ladies." They follow the limo, while Elder Ham decides to take a nap. The limo pulls through a gate which has a sign that reads "The Roosters" above it. The limo is greeted by many people who appear to be servants. When Charlotte finally gets out, she comments that she sometimes feels like she's suffocating. She heads into a barn, where she begins feeding some animals. The ham-hams, determined to learn more about the girl, decide to try talking to the animals. Howdy, however, insists that they're just barn animals and won't be of any help to them. Still, the ham-hams try talking to a group of chicky chickies. They think they're very cute at first, until they turn around and show their faces. They look fierce and one of them is even sporting a blue patch over one eye. The ham-hams bolt for it and the chickies give pursuit, until Charlotte comes in and gives them something to eat. Then, Charlotte's father shows up. He's a large, mean-sounding fellow called "Chairman Rooster." He berates Charlotte for wasting her time feeding the animals. Charlotte informs him that she's not wasting her time, she's planning to become a veterinarian. Chairman Rooster doesn't want to hear any of it, blabbering on and on about "sound investments" and "family honor" and such. He says that she's the "rooster heiress" and will marry wisely and carry on the family business. Charlotte shoots back that she'll marry someone who she loves. Chairman Rooster ignores this and tells her that he's going to set up a tea with her and one Chad Kensington Baldwin III, who will soon be the owner of a frozen food distributor. He asks his servant that an invitation for tea be sent out, with the meeting to be scheduled for tomorrow. The servant starts to do it, but Charlotte says that she'll take care of it himself. The ham-hams, not believing the gall of Charlotte's father and not believing that this could possibly be the way things are supposed to go romantically, decide that they'll intercept the invitation and get it to Mr. Yoshi. So, they find Mr. Yoshi, who is sitting on a bench reading a letter written to him by his Mom. It turns out that she's actually trying to set him up with some girl, but he's not interested. Laura and Kana show up and cause Mr. Yoshi to be distracted. He drops the letter from his Mom and the ham-hams slip in Charlotte's note. The trick has been accomplished and Mr. Yoshi is none the wiser. The next day, Laura and Kana are heading by Mr. Yoshi's house. They're wondering if he went to meet the girl his mother set him up with, when Mr. Yoshi comes flying out of the house, yelling about his stupid alarm clock. It turns out he's running late. Worse, he's not dressed appropriately, which the girls inform him of. At Charlotte's the ham-hams are beginning to wonder what happened to Mr. Yoshi, whereas Charlotte and Chairman Rooster are wondering what the deal with Chad Baldwin is. Finally, Mr. Yoshi shows up. Not realizing that a switch has been made, Mr. Yoshi begins to state his rejection, thinking that Charlotte is the girl his Mom set him up with. Chairman Rooster is not at all impressed with him and berates him for being late. Finally, both he and Charlotte come to the realization of what has happened. The ham-hams realize that their game is up and decide that they're going to rescue Mr. Yoshi. Then, the chicky chickies attack and the ham-hams can't do anything. Chairman Rooster kicks Mr. Yoshi out of the house, quite literally. Once outside, the chicky chickies go after Mr. Yoshi. The ham-hams manage to distract them and end up chasing them into a pond. Mr. Yoshi and Charlotte are now chatting it up, Mr. Yoshi with a bandage now on his nose, when they see what has happened. Charlotte wants somebody to save the chicky chickies. So Mr. Yoshi braves his fear. He heads into the water and grabs the chicky chickies. He's feeling quite proud until he realizes that he can't swim. He begins thrashing wildly, before finally realizing that the water isn't deep at all and that one can stand in it quite easily. He laughs nervously. Then, Chairman Rooster shows up and kicks him off the premises entirely, asking if he's trying to set a record for their most annoying intruder. That evening, Mr. Yoshi is out sitting on a bench. Laura and Kana are looking on, when the servant who drives the limo shows up. He gives Mr. Yoshi a note, which he figures must be a restraining order. Instead, it's actually a thank-you note. Charlotte appreciates him saving the chicky chickies and wants them to get together again. The ham-hams decide that it's a happy ending.moreless

      • Laura: I'm so happy for Mr. Yoshi. What I can't figure out is how Charlotte's address got onto the letter from Mr. Yoshi's mother. Hamtaro: Yeah, that is strange, isn't it? Laura: I guess it was just meant to be. Today was a great day, especially for Mr. Yoshi. I bet tomorrow will be even better. What do you say to that? Hamtaro: Heke.

      • Hamtaro: I guess it's a happy ending.

      • Chairman Rooster: (to Mr. Yoshi) Are you trying to set a record as our most annoying intruder?

      • Mr. Yoshi: I did it. I rescued the chicky chickies. ... I can't swim.

      • Boss: (his romantic advice for Mr. Yoshi) Tell her she has big teeth! Chairman Rooster: (to Mr. Yoshi) Ungrateful boy. I give you the courtesy of inviting you to my house to meet my daughter (who you don't deserve) and then to top it off, you get here late.

      • Pashmina: They have to make googly faces at each other to show how much they care about each other. Bijou: And they know right away that they were meant to be together forever. Sandy and Pashmina: And then they get married and live happily ever after.

      • Boss: We did it. Bijou: The love story continues. Hamtaro: I wonder what Charlotte's father will have to say.

      • Bijou: She was meant for Mr. Yoshi! Hamtaro: Are you sure about that? Boss: Of course she's sure, she's from France.

      • Chairman Rooster: Chad Kensington Baldwin III will soon own the country's third largest frozen food distributor. You should meet the boy at least.

      • Charlotte: I've already started applying to schools because I'm gonig to become a veterinarian. Chairman Rooster: A veterinarian? Not this again. I've had it.

      • Hamtaro: (regarding Chairman Rooster) This meanie is her father?

      • Hamtaro: We're the ham-hams. I wonder if you could help us out. Howdy: Forget it. These are barn animals. They're not explorer animals like we are. They won't know anything. Let's keep looking. Perhaps we can find intelligent life somewhere else. Ham-hams: (groan) Oxnard: Explorer animals? That sounds dangerous.

      • Bijou: (regarding Charlotte) Oh my. What a lovely name. Hamtaro: Yeah, it suits her.

      • Boss: Perfect love story. Howdy: Sounds like a recipe for disaster, if you ask me.

      • Mr. Yoshi: (regarding Charlotte) Ahhh. Talk about a girl who knows how to handle a chicken...

      • Mr. Yoshi: (to Travis) It's not nice to tease your teacher.

      • End-of-episode promo: "Ham-Ham Clubhouse In Danger"

      • Charlotte's letter to Mr. Yoshi at the end of the episode is entirely in Japanese characters. However, some other things in the episode, such as Mr. Yoshi's name on the letter from his Mom and the sign hanging above the gate at Charlotte's place (which read "The Roosters") were in English.

      • Mr. Yoshi's first name is revaled for the first time in this episode. It's Phillip, or Phil for short.

      • When Boss skeptically repeats the girl hams' wistful cry of "perfect love story," a ghostly fish swims by, complete with watery sound effects. This is a pun on Japanese koi. Koi are Japanese carp, but koi is also a Japanese word for "love."

      • This episode marks the beginning of a long continuuing plotline, which finally culminates in the late second season episode, "How to Rescue a Wedding."

      • This episode also appears in online listings as "Romancing the Rooster" and the "The Romantic Setup."
