Laura is working on a project for school. She's cutting apples for a shrunken head, but she just can't seem to get it right. She's trying to peel it to make a face, but she keeps slipping up and peeling way too much. Hamtaro is watching and the whole shrunken head thing is creeping him out a bit. Worse, Laura works on it all that night in her room and Hamtaro feels like the apples are staring at him. The next morning, Hamtaro slips down the drainpipe and heads off to meet the ham-hams, who are out in the fields somewhere. Hamtaro talks about Laura's project. The ham-hams all listen and Bijou talks about how her owner, Maria gives her cut-up apples. She says that food presentation is actually an art. As the ham-hams walk along, they see Stan and Sandy. Unfortunately, it looks like something bad is happening. They're fighting! Stan has gotten a hold of Sandy's ribbon and won't give it back to her. Sandy insists that he hand it back, calling him a "total pain." Stan still won't let go, so Sandy starts grabbing for it. The ribbon breaks and Sandy is upset. Stan, however, tries to minimize it, saying that she doesn't need a "silly ribbon." He says that he was going to give it back and that his stuff is way cooler. Now, Sandy is really mad. She grabs Stan's maracas and thrusts them to the ground, causing them to shatter to bits. The ham-hams see what is happening and start heading towards Stan and Sandy, hoping to break up the fighting. But before they can reach them, Stan and Sandy head off on their own, separate ways. They don't want to have anything to with each other. Hamtaro says that they have to do something. They can't let them go home angry. They remember that it's Sandy's birthday and, not long afterwards, figure out that since Stan and Sandy are twins, it must be Stan's birthday as well. Howdy cracks that he figured that out right away and so he must be the brightest bulb. Nobody is impressed with his comment. At Laura's school, Mr. Yoshi is discussing the class project. One of the things they're doing is making fruit punch and he's outlined instructions for it on the board. He also gives tips on food presntation and says that if anyone has something left over, they can donate it to the teachers' lounge. Laura, still having trouble with her apples, is beginning to wish she'd joined a group. For example, Travis, with his group, is making some sort of fancy glaze. As Laura continues to struggle with her apples, Travis sees her frustruation and comes over to help her out. He says he can teach her and Kana to cook like a pro, so both of the girls agree to let him help. Back with the ham-hams, Panda has drawn up plans for a humongous cake. The ham-hams all think it's going to be delicious, so they get to work. Back at the school, Laura makes a comment about how while she may not be good at peeling, she is good at cooking. Travis says that he knows and jokes that he ate her lunch. The ham-hams are all hard at work on the cake. Among the tasks are Dexter and Howdy, putting on the icing, Penelope, Pashmina and Bijou creating lovely star shaped carrots and Oxnard and Boss doing some really hard work sculpting the cake. In fact, the work is so hard that Oxnard soon gets hungry and starts eating some of the cake. At first, the ham-hams try to stop him, but then they realize that they're hungry too and start eating. Just then, Hamtaro and Bijou see what's happening. They tell everyone to stop, saying that it's important that they get the cake done. So everyone works really hard to finish it. At Laura's school, things are going well now that Laura has joined Travis's group. Travis is so good that Kana and Laura think that they'll get A's for sure. And there's not going to be anything left over to take to the teacher's lounge. Meanwhile, the ham-hams, having completed the cake, invite Stan and Sandy. They bring them together and when they both ask what it is they came from, they see each other and get angry. But then they see the cake and realize that the ham-hams remembered their birthday. The ham-hams tell them that they can eat the cake on one condition, that they have to make up and be friends again. So the two do and proceed to enjoy the cake, which they think is awesome because of its unique recipe. They ask the rest of the ham-hams to join them in eating, after all, the cake is huge and they could never eat it all themselves. Then, as the ham-hams are eating, they notice that Stan and Sandy have disappeared. They wonder where they went to and hope they're not fighting. It turns out, though, that they're actually exchanging gifts. Stan got Sandy a brand-new two-tone ribbon which she absolutely loves. And Sandy got Stan red Super-Shaker 100 maracas. She'd been hiding them for weeks and they were actually supposed to be a second pair, but, oh well. Then, Stan performs the twirling whirling song. That evening, Laura reflects on the day's events. Once she got home, she was able to peel an apple perfectly. She guesses she'll just have to work at it some more.moreless
