Hamtaro, hearing Laura and Kana talking about going on a picnic, thinks that it would be a great idea for the ham-hams as well. He takes the idea to the ham-ham gang. Everyone thinks it's great, except for Penelope and Bijou, who don't know what a picnic is and wonder what involves. However, after it's explained to them, they're quite eager to go. But when the day of the big picnic comes, Hamtaro's disappointed when he arrives at the clubhouse and finds that Bijou isn't there. Apparently Bijou's owner, Maria, isn't feeling well and so Bijou is staying at home to watch over her. If there's one hamster that's more disappointed about this than Hamtaro, it's Boss. He tells everyone else to go have their picnic. He's going to stay there, at the clubhouse. Meanwhile, Laura and Kanas' fathers have arrived at the picnic area. They want to find a nice spot, with a tree with beautiful cherry blossoms. However, they end up getting into an argument about their athletic ability and end up having a competition to prove who's the strongest, making a spectacle of themselves in public. When Laura, Kana and their mothers arrive, they're disappointed to find that the two fathers spent so much time on their quarrel, that they didn't pick out a spot to picnic. Now, all of the best places are gone. The ham-hams set up their picnic and have a generally good time, although some are bothered by the absence of Bijou and Boss. Howdy tries to lighten the mood by cracking jokes, but they fall flat. Meanwhile, Kana and Lauras' fathers have found a picnic spot, but the tree is bare. It hasn't even bloomed yet. They've apparently ended up with the worst spot in the park. Still, Laura and Kana try to make the best of it. They have the fathers try their hand at cooking, although, as per earlier, they try to turn it into a competition. Things start to relax after Laura and Kana tell them that they should just have fun. Things get even better after they decide to have a sing-along and sing the Hamtaro theme song. The hamsters join in as well, Hamtaro saying that he loves the song. Back at the clubhouse, Boss receives a piece of at advice from Snoozer. At first, he ignores it, but then he decides that it has merit. Over at the park, the ham-hams come to the same conclusion: that if Bijou can't come to see the cherry blossoms, then they'll bring the cherry blossoms to her. They go and meet up with Boss, who is surprised they came up with the same idea. He asks if he can still take credit for it. So they all carry blossoms to Bijou's and spread out on a tree in her yard. Bijou admires the blossoms from her window. Maria, who is starting to feel better, comments that she must be seeing things and decides to go back to bed. Hamtaro returns home and gets a little worried when he realizes that Laura is already back. From inside, he can hear Laura and Kanas' fathers arguing. Looks like the experience at the park didn't do much to change things after all. Still, Laura thinks that it was a great day.moreless
