Laura visits the local museum to gain some information for an independent study assignment. As she talks with her family about it, they talk about something at the museum that they think looks like a giant sunflower seed. Laura's Mom is thinking about going and she's going to try to get Laura's Dad to come as well, as she's been trying to get him to come to the museum for a while. Hamtaro, listening in, focuses on "giant sunflower seed." He takes the news to the ham-ham gang, who wonder about the origin of this giant sunflower seed. They think maybe that aliens brought it to the planet Earth. One thing they do know: they have to get the museum to check this out. There's just one problem: they don't know where the museum is. Maxwell, however, does. He says that it's like his home away from home. So they make preparations to go to the museum. Hamtaro recommends packing big lunches. He overheard Laura saying that she was going to pack a lunch for Travis, since he always forgets his. This sparks a competition between Dexter and Howdy, who both ask Pashmina if they can pack her lunch for her. Boss, however, plays it cool and is rewarded when Bijou asks him to pack her lunch. The ham-hams head for the museum, where they are at first scared by what seems to be a monster. Maxwell, however, explains that it's actually a dinosaur. He tries to explain some of the history of dinosaurs, but the ham-hams seem more interested in playing around. Eventually, they get the "giant sunflower seed." The ham-hams admire it, not knowing that it isn't really a giant sunflower seed. Laura and her group are there too and they decide to break for lunch. So the ham-hams do as well. At lunch, Boss meets up with Bijou. He's been carrying around something in a knapsack all day and it's time to find out what it is. He brought her a whole bunch of treats. Bijou digs in, but soon finds that they taste awful. To be polite, however, she compliments them. Then, the other ham-hams notice the treats and come for some of the action. Boss tells them that they're only for Bijou, but Bijou eagerly says that they can share. The ham-hams try them and, like Bijou, find that they're awful. Boss doesn't understand, until he tries one himself. They're revolting! All of the ham-hams hate them, except for Maxwell, who seems to think that they have a nice texture. The ham-hams wonder if maybe he isn't associated with the alien hamsters who apparently brought the giant sunflower seed to Earth. Boss, embarrassed over his fiasco, runs up to a high place to sulk. Hamtaro follows him, while the other hamsters return to the museum. As they head inside, Hamtaro tries to talk Boss down. He ends up falling down, but he's okay. Inside the museum, the hamsters look at a display involving electricity. They then find a display with a clock and gear. When Penelope seems a little too interested in one of the displays, Bijou tries to stop her. As Penelope continues to shout "Ookwee!," Bijou doesn't realize that Pashmina is trying to help her - she's become trapped on one of the hooks pulling the gears. The ham-hams see that Bijou's in danger, but they're not sure what to do. Hamtaro and Boss arrive back in the museum and they have boss save her. Bijou's thankful to be saved and Oxnard calls Boss his hero. As the ham-hams continue along, they go by Laura's group and Laura see Hamtaro's reflection. However, she dismisses it as a hallucination. Finally, Laura's group and the ham-hams all visit the museum planetarium. They learn about Pisces and Bijou says that Boss is like Pisces to her. That night, as Laura reflects on the day's events, she says that she sometimes wishes she could take Hamtaro with her everywhere she goes. She's beginning to see him everywhere.moreless
