There's a sports festival in town. Laura and her Dad are out training for the Parent-Child triathlon. As they jog along, Laura's Dad decides to stop at a bench for a little rest. Hamtaro has been watching them as they practice. Just then, Kana and her Dad come by. Kana's Dad can't help but subject Laura's to some ribbing. He talks about how hard he and Kana have been training and how he's already set up a place and a party for their gold medals and stuff. The two fathers get into one of their arguing matches again, leading Kana to make a comment. Hamtaro, not really understanding the idea of this sports festival, decides to head to the clubhouse to ask about it. Nobody's really sure at first, but then Maxwell talks about how he saw a sign for it. Events include such things as a scavenger hunt and an apple bob. The ham-hams all want to know what an apple bob is. Howdy speaks up, saying that he can tell them about it. When they ask, however, he just makes one of his bad jokes, saying that he once had a pet apple, which he named "Bob." Nobody is amused and Dexter gripes that by now, they should be able to see them coming. In any case, Oxnard knows about the sports festival. He talks about how hard Kana and her Dad have been training. Then, he and Hamtaro end up getting into a bit of an argument. Hamtaro is all in favor of Laura winning, but Oxnard is adamant, more adamant than he usually is about anything, that Kana and her Dad are going to win. He knows that Kana's Dad would be really upset if he didn't. The ham-hams decide that they'll have to see if they can find a way to help out in this sports festival. They also plan on having their own sports festival. Boss is interested in racing Stan, who thinks that Boss used to be the fastest ham-ham in the clubhouse, until he came along, that is. The day of the big sports festival finally comes. At first, Laura and Kana can't even find their fathers, who turn out to be having one of their competitions off somewhere by themselves. Finally, the big triathlon begins. The ham-hams tunnel around and end up attempting to help Kana and her Dad in a competition that involves rolling a large, red ball. They can't get any motion at first, but eventually they get it moving and Kana and her father can't figure out how the ball just took off on its own. The competition continues, with both Laura and her father and Kana and her's doing well. Then, they come to the scavenger hunt. Laura and her father get something easy to find and have a good chance of winning. Kana and her father, however, got a bad draw. They have to find a dog and carry it all the way to the finish line. The ham-hams, seeing that they're in trouble, decide to help out. They manage to find someone that has a dog. However, the dog is sleeping and they're not sure what they can do. Then, they decide they'll just get it to work. Their plan is successful and Kana and her father spot the dog. It's the solution to their problem, but the dog is heavy and worse, it doesn't want to cooperate. Laura and her Dad spot them and decide to help out. They know how to handle dogs, having one of their own. Together, they get the dog across the finish line. They're all dead last, but it doesn't really matter to them. The crowd likes them and Laura and Kana are both proud. They'll all join together for the championship cookoff. Later, the ham-hams have their own sports festival and all have a good time, but Hamtaro is very tired that evening when Laura does her journal.moreless
