Laura and her family are going on a trip to Grandma Willow's in the country. Grandma Willow lives in the country house that Laura's Dad used to live in. Laura's especially excited because there's a big sunflower field surrounding the area and she gets to take Hamtaro along. When Hamtaro hears about it, he tells the whole ham-ham gang. They all want to come, but they can't. It's an overnight trip and their owners would miss them. Oxnard really wishes he could go, as the idea of all those sunflowers holds great appeal for him. Finally, the day of the big trip comes. As they near Grandma's house, they can see the sunflower fields. Hamtaro is amazed by them. When they reach the house, Hamtaro can't wait to get out of his carrier. But he has to wait for Grandma Willow to get everyone settled in and stuff. Then, Boss shows up! He's a field hamster, so he doesn't have humans who would get upset. He snuck into the car and came along for the ride. Eventually, Laura gets Grandma Willow to lead her to the sunflower fields. She convinces her that she can wait for them, but Hamtaro is impatient and can't wait any longer. So they head to the field, crossing a small bridge spanning a river on the way. When they get there, Hamtaro can't wait to go exploring. Laura, however, has other plans. While Boss scurries off to the sunflowers, Grandma Willow does a photo shoot of Laura and Hamtaro. The shoot finally ends and Hamtaro is put back into his carrier. Hamtaro, tired of waiting, decides to sneak out. He joins Boss in the field and has a generally great time hopping up and down on the sunflowers. They end up breaking one off of its stem and Boss wants to take it as a present for Bijou, but it's way too heavy. Meanwhile, Laura decides to show something to Hamtaro, but finds that he's not in his carrier. Laura starts searching for Hamtaro and soon calls him the help of her parents. Boss and Hamtaro start thinking about heading back and end up getting lost. They try crossing the river, but using a rickety log instead of the bridge. Boss ends up falling off and Hamtaro saves him, but the log goes hurtling down a river. The two nearly fall off a waterfall, but grab onto a leaf and save themselves. Eventually, they find their way back and Hamtaro has a happy reunion with Laura. When they return home, they share sunflower seeds provided as a present by Grandma Willow. Boss even presents Bijou with a special package of them, which Bijou seems to quite like.moreless
