Sid: (looking at a cubist painting) Where did you ever see a bird looking like that?
Hancock: I don't know. I quite like it. That's how the artist sees his model in his subconscious. It's symbolic. I mean, the pear-shaped motif is so obvious to the perceptive eye. And his cubic conception of the overall form is quite enthralling. Clearly a defined attempt to reduce life to the pattern of a basic mathematical formula. On the other hand, it's a very good likeness of that bird you took out last week.
Hancock: Don't look like babysitters, indeed! And what, pray, do babysitters look like? Did Rembrandt look like a musician? Of course she didn't.
