  • Tony sets out to be elected as a politician

    8.0
There is a most memorable scene where Tony Hancock is giving a speech to a minimalist audience - one man (John Le Mesurier) and a small boy. The boy asks "what about the situation in Patagonia?". After ignoring him for a while, John insists that Tony answers the boy. Tony Gulps but recognising that he has no choice. What follows is an amazing monologue that seems to go on and on - in which Tony says absolutely nothing. It beats the sort of avoidance and procrastination you get from modern politicians trying to side-step Paxman hands-down.
