(Miley opens the door just as lightening strikes a foot away from her) Miley: (Falling back) Yeow! Jackson: Miley, are you OK? Miley: Next time, you're going out first!
Oliver: Why do you get to be in front? Lilly: Because I'm a girl and you, me, and the guy at the hardware store agree that you're an IDIOT!
Lilly: (Opening the door to the Stewart's house, while she and Oliver are stuck to the chairs) You are so lucky I'm watering their plants! Oliver: Oh yeah, that's me, Mr. Lucky. Jackson: Prospector Pete found his way through the maze to the gold! AGAIN! Prospector Pete is a character from the Disney/Pixar film Toy Story 2.
Plot: The scenario of Jackson and Miley disappearing (due to their young parents not meeting) mirrors that of the 1985 film, Back to the Future, where the character Marty McFly tries to get his teenage parents to meet or he and his siblings will disappear from existence.
Robbie: Don't break my heart; my itchy twitchy heart! My herky jerky heart! Jackson: You might want to try Achy Breaky. Robbie: Achy Breaky? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! This is an allusion to the Billy Ray Cyrus song Achy Breaky Heart.
The Way We Almost Weren't is a play on the hit song by Barbra Streisand called The Way We Were.
