  • Richie and Potsie get tickets to a big Rock 'N' Roll show and plan to double date until Howard gets sick.

Richie and Potsie are very pleased that Fonzie has been able to get them tickets to a big Rock 'N' Roll show that is coming to town but disappointment soon sets in when Howard is taken ill and needs to have his tonsils out and Richie will be needed to mind Cunningham's Hardware on the same Saturday night as the show.

Although bitterly disappointed, Richie has no intention of letting his sick father down and so, he puts on a brave face, he gets a refund on the tickets from Fonzie, however, when Howard sees how upset Richie is about missing the show, he tells Richie that he can close the show at 5pm instead of the usual 9pm so that he and his friends can still make the concert in plenty of time. After once again getting tickets, Richie happily looks after the store for his dad until a glasspanel is broken in the front door and Richie takes responsibility for it. Once again, Richie is unable to go to the show.

A very good episode and a good way to show teens taking responsibility when adults are unable.
  • Will Richie ever make it to the Rock N' Roll show???

Richie and Potsie plan to double date to the big Rock N' Roll show that has come to town. First Ritchie has to get the money from his dad who isn't feeling well, and then find Fonzie to buy some tickets.
Once Ritchie gets the tickets he finds out that his dad needs him to work at the store because he need his tonsils out.
Richie then sells the tickets back to Fonzie.
Mrs. C. notice Richie is upset and he tells her that he won't be able to go to the concert, she tells him to close early and go.
He finally gets Fonzie to come by the store with more tickets. When Ritchie and Potsie get ready to leave the store they lock themselves inside.
Richie then accidentally breaks a window trying to get out through another opened window.
He then gives the tickets to Potsie and tells him to take the girls while he waits for the glass man to come.
    Great episode. Really funny.
  • When Richie buys tickets for the big Rock 'N' Roll show, multiple things send his plans into a backspin.

Arguably one of the top three episodes of the first season, "Hardware Jungle" could also rate as one of the best of the series. This is when Happy Days did what Happy Days did best and it did it darn good. Potsie scores a date with the best friend of Richie's steady, Arlene. When Richie tells Potsie that he won't be able to attend, due to tending to his father's shop while Howard is in the hospital, Potsie is let down. However, when Howard tells Richie that he can close up the shop a little early, hilarity ensues. Richie buys and sell tickets from and to Fonzie like a scalper in this comedy of errors. While you root for clean-cut kid, Richie, you also get glimpses of the super-cool Fonz and the wordly Potsie. Ironically, the funniest scenes in this episode are arguably the tonsillitis jokes that occur between Howard and Joanie or Howard and the old man next to his hospital bed. It takes talent to write a show like this, with pop culture references dug up 20 years later and the best, cleanest comedy you'll see since the Andy Griffith Show. And that is what TV needs more of these days.
