Cindy Shellinberger ( Mary Cross) is a new girl at Jefferson High. She is very popular and very attractive so Richie is thrilled when she asks for his help with English and he becomes her tutor. Richie is very pleased with this arrangement because he is highly attracted to his 'pupil' and hopes that the tutoring relationship with develop into something more. (One of the constant themes of "Happy Days" is that all the young cast are always on the lookout for a new love interest while the older Fonzie has so many of them falling at his feet that he can't keep track!)
While tutoring Cindy, Richie tries to play the suave, sophisticated type of young man in the hopes of impressing Cindy but it seems that this isn't really necessary when she asks him to kiss her during one of their tutoring sessions!moreless
