  • Racism is the key point of this episode when Howard is asked to be best man at the wedding of an old African American army pal.

Racism wasn't something which was frequently tackled on television during the 1970s, particularly when the show in question was set in the 1950s so this episode of "Happy Days" was a bit of a ground breaker in that respect.

Howard's only friend Fred Washinton (Robert DoQui) is about to get married and he asks Howard to perform Best Man duties. Howard is only too pleased to do so but when the weddings ends up being held at the Cunningham house because nobody else wants to be involved in it, Marion and Howard have some unpleasant problems with neighbours and friends who don't want the black people in their area.

A very thought-provoking episode and one which showed how easily people can become prejudiced against others without it always being immediately obvious.
