Richie is embarrassed to be seen driving around in his father's conservative car as he feels that it's 'old-fashioned' and will certainly not help when trying to pick up girls.

Determined to have 'wheels' of his own, he and Potsie decide to pool their money and get themselves a car. Howard (Tom Bosley) is not thrilled with the idea but finally relents.

Almost immediately, the boys see the error of their ways when a used car salesman lands them with the world's biggest lemon- it doesn't start properly, the engine gives out all the time and, in general, the car is a pile of junk. Trying to impress their dates when their car won't even go properly is a huge issue (and very embarrassing!) but the boys learn a valuable lesson - never trust a used-car salesman unless you know a LOT about cars!moreless
