When Seiko speaks Japanese [un-subtitled] to the crowd, she says, "It's pretty, I think. I'm Seiko. What is your name?"
While talking to their manager, Kenji is at first not present. He then appears, disappears, and again appears. Surely he was left out when the scene was animated.
The member of Shoyu Weenie playing the drums during their concert only appears at this time. The other four continue the episode with Kenji.
Mentok: We don't borrow, we don't read, we don't rent, we don't lease, we take the minds. So, in conclusion, we are... Bailiff: [deadpan] Takers? Mentok: Yes. [musses up the bailiff's hair] Who's the smartest boy in the court today? Who's the smartest boy in the court? Bailiff: [deadpan] Me? [Mentok throws a dog treat in front of him]
Guy from Shoyu Weenie: (in Japanese) Do you think we have a chance? Birdman: (Birdman nods) Hakujin! (Translated 'White Guy')
Harvey: All's fair in love and bouncey-bouncey!
Harvey: (To girl from Shoyu Weenie) Aren't you cute, heres a football, an American football. (Zoom in on a 'Made in China' seal on the football)
Reducto: I missed you last night. At the bar. Where you said you were going to meet me. THAT bar. (starts jumping as if he's grossed out) I touched a public phone to call you. AND YOU WEREN'T THERE!!
Harvey: So, you are a musical group correct? Neptunes: Sure! (Jabberjaw does his laugh) Mentok: Oh for God's sakes...you, the shark. No more from you today, okay? Harvey: Who writes your music? Guy from Neptunes: Someone with something yummy in his tummy? Mentok: Those guys over there, they're gonna lose this one. Pretty sure of it. No, I know it. Harvey: And before you answer this next question, let me remind you that you swore (pulls out a giant Bible) ON A BIBLE to tell the truth here today. (throws it away) So, tell us (points above) AND GOD, where the song 'Lovely Lovely' came from? HE'D like to know. Guy from Neptunes: Uh, we don't know. Harvey: Nothing further.
Harvey: When I was in junior high, we did a trust fall in ropes class and dropped the first girl. Phil: That's it, let me cradle you in my arms. Harvey: Then she fell flat on her face. Phil: Did you ever know that you're my hero? Harvey: Then everyone started laughing at her because she was fat. Phil: Fall, you bastard!
When Birdman says he will take the case Peanut pulls out a rocket launcher and say KAMPAI ! Which means 'Cheers'
The Japanese in this episode and it's subtitled translations are fairly accurate, except when it obviously isn't such as "Oi!" meaning "They stole our song!".
The first episode produced at Cartoon Network Studios, where the series would remain permanently.
Dr. Shark: There is a brief cameo in the courtroom by Dr. Shark, who has a multipurpose submarine that he uses for his headquarters. Dr. Shark also has a group of henchmen and monsters that he uses to attack Birdman. Dr. Shark appeared in one episode of the original Birdman cartoon.
Mentok, The Mind Taker: Mentok has the ability to send cerebral messages to a person or animal to do his bidding. He uses this ability to get Birdman to steal missiles from the United States Government. He plans on using these missiles to start a way between two countries. Mentok appeared in one episode of the original Birdman cartoon and is a recurring character from this episode onwards.
Bette Midler - Wind Beneath My Wings: When Phil says "Did you ever know that you're my hero?", it is a reference to the song "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler.
Amazing Chan & the Chan Clan: Shoyu Weenie is really The Amazing Chan and The Chan Clan, from the 1972 cartoon of the same name. The manager is Charlie Chan, the band are his kids. They weren't a band in the cartoon, they solved mysteries.
Jabberjaw: Jabberjaw & the Neptunes are best known from the 1976 cartoon, aptly titled Jabberjaw. The show is about 4 kids and a Great White shark that solve mysteries in the year 2021. The Neptunes is the rock band in the series.
The Godzilla Power Hour: Dr. Gale Melody, object of Reducto's affections and witness during the trial, was originally "Professor Quinn Darian" on the 1978 cartoon series, The Godzilla Power Hour.
