Does anyone know why Hanako doesnt wear shoes? For a while I though it was because she died in the bathroom and in a lot of parts of japan you dont wear shoes when you enter the bathroom (including the ones you put on when you enter the house) but this doesn't apply to school bathrooms and besides both the students and Yamiko have been in the bathroom and they all were wearing shoes.

Hmm, good question. There are bathroom slippers but I’m not sure if they use such things at schools or take off their school slippers. But she floats around most of the time anyway, and it seems she needs to wear a bra rather than slippers.

Actually I've been thinking it over and I may have an answer. If you get the DVD set of the show and read the character descriptions, they mention that Hanako died "tragically". I thinkits possilbe that what they meant was that she commited suicide.Thelack of shoes would make sense ofshe did this by jumping, as there is a convention in Japanese media of people removing their shoes before getting onto the ledge to jump.

Speaking of shoes.I wanted to tell you about aninteresting coincidenceI noted while surfing onebay for some haunted junction stuff. You know that line in the closing song where they saysomething along the lines of "the sunshine was beautiful, but part of me wanted to be unsure, so I took of just one of my shoes." Well it turns out that at some time ome of theJapanese model figurine compaines put out a model kit of Mitsuki and, somewhat Ironically it has her with one shoe off, and one on! (If you are still young, PLEASE, PLEASE, just take my word for this and don't try and check for yourself, as the model in question was evidently made for an adult crowd and is not appropriate for children. It also appered to be based on the magna rather than TV mutsuki so you wouldn't recognize it anyway.)

Did Mitsuki have one shoe off in the manga series?

I don't know as I have never seen the magna. When I said "it's the magna Mutsuki", I was parroting what the site I saw said. That being said, I tend to doubtthat the magna picture the model was based on had one shoe off. In my experiance most anime kit models tend to be interpretations of the characters and thier costumes and attitudes tend not to be based on any particular drawing in the actualk anime canon. Indeed in some cases whenb a figure is desired the model companies atucally comission the magna or anime artists to create a completely new picture for them to use as a guide.

Okay here aretwo links the First two are from auctions of the figurines actually in question. The First listed is the basic version and I selected one where the pictures are clean (i.e. out of the box but with the shirt still on) the second is for the color variant I warn you however that this has pictures of both types.
