Frank keeps seeing the numbers "250" throughout this episode. Matthew Fox would later star in the ABC series Lost, which featured another character who is haunted by mysteriously recurring numbers.
Frank draws his self-portrait but it ends up portraying Simon, who is expressed as the personification of Frank's dark side.
Frank receives a physical wound from a ghost in the form of a burn on his left shoulder.
Marcus: (On Frank going undercover in an Asylum) Are you sure that this isn't some bizarre cry for help?
Marcus: You were the last one to be admitted here, Frank. Frank: And I wasn't even a patient.
Liz: (To Frank) The second I saw you I knew you'd stir it up.
Melissa: Is that what you were looking for? Frank: No, this is my file. (laughs as he reads) "An intense need to control. Strong indications of post traumatic stress. Patient shows obsessive tendencies." Melissa: Okay. Enough of that nonsense. Frank: (smiling) What isn't wrong with me!?
Frank: (To Simon) If I can figure out a way to get you out of my life then this will all be worth it. Dr. Martin: Who are you talking to? Frank: To my self-portrait.
The French title of this episode is L'Antre de la folie.
