    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • (Continuity error) Paladin hears Jenny cry out his name and goes dashing up the hill to the mine. As he nears the top, we see him pull out his gun. As he pauses outside the mine entrance, we see him draw his gun again.

      • (Continuity error)
In Mr. Carruthers' cabin, near the end of the meal, Carruthers picks up a large pickle from a plate. He holds it for several moments as they talk, then reaches for a bite--but the whole pickle suddenly has a large bite out of it already.

      • (Continuity error) Near the end of the episode, the escaping Jenny flags down a stagecoach. As she opens the door, we can see people seated on the forward-facing seat. She gets in, sits, and reaches out to pull the door closed. This places her on the backwards-facing seat, next to the door she entered by. When the camera switches to an interior shot, she is suddenly on the far side of the seat. If she had had to squeeze past Paladin to sit down, surely she would have recognized him.

    • QUOTES (5)

      • (Paladin has been knocked out)
Wilson: You think he'll be all right?
Matlock: Certainly he'll be all right. Do you think I'm a plumber laying him out with a piece of pipe? Just under the right mastoid. Why, he won't even have a headache.
Wilson: All right, let's go. I'm sure you did a good job.
Matlock: Good? I suppose you'd say the Mona Lisa was a pretty postcard. It's a masterpiece.

      • Carruthers: Why, it's dinnertime. You will join me. A man alone, sir, just feeds himself. Two men together, dine.

      • Carruthers: I'm sorry, honey, I know your old man must be a disappointment to you, but I just couldn't do it! Shoot a man while I'm dining with him.

      • Paladin: Oh, Mr. Carruthers!
        Carruthers: Hmm? Oh.
Paladin: I didn't get a chance to thank you for dinner; thank you very much, sir.
Carruthers: Oh, my pleasure, sir. Most delighted you happened by.

      • Jenny: You mean you took my thousand dollars and then do this to me?
Paladin: Miss Carruthers, Miss Lake Carruthers? You paid me a thousand dollars to forget you. And Ma'am, (kisses her on hand) it's done.
