Martha Jane Conroy
Paladin: You're Martha Jane Conroy. Huh. You don't know me, but you're the first person I ever saw do this. (Tosses her gun up behind his back and catches it neatly in front of him.)
McGinnis: You're acquainted with this...person?
Paladin: Mr. McGinnis, meet Calamity Jane. And I'd like my bath prepared for her now, please.
McGinnis: In my hotel? (Calamity starts to draw on him and Paladin intercepts her) Certainly not!
Paladin: That's quite all right. McGinnis. Have the clerk prepare my bill.
Paladin: And Hey Girl, pack my things.
Hey Girl: Right now?
Paladin: Right now.
McGinnis: Er, Mr. Paladin. Any guest of yours, is, ah...more than welcome.
Paladin: Well, thank you, Mr. McGinnis.
Paladin: Jane, whatever happened to one of the great ladies of the West? The name get to be too heavy for you to carry?
(Paladin looks at a dime novel about Calamity Jane and chuckles)
Paladin: You know, once on a long train ride, I translated this thing into Latin, because it was so unreadable in English.
(Paladin throws away the flour sack with the hidden bottle)
Paladin: You know why I came with you?
Martha Jane: To help me get my money, not to be devilin' the life outa me!
Paladin: Goodbye. I think I preferred the legend, anyway.
Martha Jane: It's disappointed in me you are, I'm thinkin'.
Paladin: Well, I guess it's just that I got to believing the legend myself. The "Joan of Arc" of the Dakotas. "Calamity Jane".
Blackstock: Jane. Jane, you know it's all over between us. Jane. Why d'ya look at me like that?
Martha Jane: Oh, Ned, Ned me darlin'. I'm gonna take you to your room, and I'm gonna fix you all up, me darlin'. Oh, it ain't for nothin' they call me the White Angel of Mercy. And you writin' the loveliest stories about me, with words that come thunderin' through--
Lucy: Hey, where you going?
(Paladin snags her by the arm)
Paladin: Let's you and I leave them alone, shall we? Hmm? It'd be a shame to waste all that champagne.
Lucy: I think you're right.
Paladin: "Oh, if I but served my God with half the zeal I served my--Queen."
(Paladin seats Lucy at the table)
Paladin: Nothing. Uh...(Whisper in her ear) Keep your hands above the table.
Paladin's quote right near the end of the episode comes, as usual, from Shakespeare: Henry VIII, Act III, Scene ii, line 456.
Cardinal Wolsey: Had I but served my God with half the zeal I served my king, He would not in mine age Have left me naked to mine enemies.
