A Haven Community
Syfy (ended 2015)

Syfy has penciled some new premiere dates into its datebook.

The fifth season of fan-favorite Haven will premiere on Thursday, September 11 at 10pm, the network announced Friday.

New post-apocalyptic drama Z Nation will debut the following evening, on Friday, September 12 at 10pm. From Eureka executive producer Karl Schaefer and starring Lost's Harold Perrineau, Supernatural's DJ Qualls, and Southland's Tom Everett Scott, the series picks up three years after a zombie virus wipes out much of the country's population as a ragtag team tries to create a vaccine from the only known survivor's blood. (Watch the first teaser here!)

Later in the season, new drama Town of the Living Dead will add even more zombies to Syfy's lineup when it premieres on Tuesday, October 7 at 10pm. The series follows the residents of Jasper, Alabama, who are determined to finally finish the zombie movie they've been working on for six years. The project is based on a local urban legend and centers on a group of friends who are trying to survive a zombie apocalypse in rural Alabama. Interestingly, the logline for this one promises that the amateur filmmakers will "struggle against every obstacle imaginable to get to a final cut of their film… which could someday become a Syfy movie." How... meta?

Long-running reality series Ghost Hunters will celebrate its 10th anniversary and it's 200th episode when it returns on Wednesday, October 8 at 9pm.

And finally, Battlestar Galactica alum Tricia Helfer makes her highly anticipated return to Syfy right before Thanksgiving, when the limited series Ascension bows on Monday, November 24 at 9pm. Also starring Cougar Town's Brian Van Holt, the drama tells the story of a covert U.S. space mission that sent hundreds of men, women, and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Halfway into their journey, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission.

Will you be watching any of Syfy's new series this fall?

I really liked Ascension. It's completely over? I thought they would give it a try as a series, wasn't sure how, but I miss it already.

Finally!!! Thank the heavens :)

Ascension sounds like it could be good. We need more space shows. Especially since there are no more Star Trek's.

Is that Emily Rose in Graceland? The one that's Mike's boss?

I'm pretty sure the "Ascension" storyline will have been done better by that Australian kids show "Silversun".

Town of the Living Dead is a reality series, not a drama.

I'm really looking forward to Ascension. But it's going up against Sleepy Hollow. My Tuesday and Wednesday nights, are full as well. So i'll fit it in on Thursday night.

Z-Nation looks intriguing, but i'm not sure, i want to watch 2 zombies series, during the same time of the year.

I'm also looking forward to trying 12 Monkeys (January), The Expanse, and Killjoys (2 space operas).

I'm also waiting on news for Letter 44, Ghost Brigade (2 more space operas), Darkfall, Magicians, Pax Romana, DMZ, Hunters (aliens), The Woods, Booster Gold, Frank Miller's Ronin, and Robert Kirkman's Clone.

I barely know what any of these shows are actually about. But if Syfy decides to make them all, I will (most likely) be watching. I have an addiction to anything sci-fi or fantasy :)

So two new zombie shows? For crying out loud SciFi, get your shit together. We don't need another zombie show let alone two. We already have TWD spiraling into mediocrity we don't need anything else.

Mate, i feel your frustration. I had given up on SyFy, for a few years (after Caprica). But came back to try Helix. I got hooked on Continuum, and tried a couple more of their series.

They have a huge development slate. Including 5 space operas, that's the most that ever been on tv, at one time. See 2 posts up, for their shows/ pilots in development. 5 more are science fiction, with some fantasy and horror series mixed in.

WOW, I ALMOST MISSED THIS!

Oh, I'll be watching Haven, of course. And if you are too, remember to come by TV.com's community for Haven, because we do have a good bunch of people following and commenting this show here, even if there are no official reviews... but we have had two people writing reviews last year anyways! :) So join us in September!!

TBQH I'd prefer to see that writers/producers have endgame in mind so they say these 26 eps are last ones and they write it so show wraps up with decent closure, plots closed etc. Better than jsut run with plot and when show gets axed it still leaves unanswered questions

Well, I wouldn't mind if this would be the last season, tbh. What I have learnt from Flashpoint five seasons run is that 5 seasons is a very good number of season and it's better if the show ends on it's own terms. Especially a show with a continous story.

I hope for that as well, not every show get 26 episodes to finish there story, I hope the writers don't waste this opportunity because most likely they will never get another chance to end a series on their terms.

Syfy have ordered 2 new seasons of Haven to round out the show.
http://www.blastr.com/2014-1-28/more-troubles-are-coming-syfy-orders-super-sized-new-season-haven

So we have at least 26 new episodes to watch. I don't expect any more after than through.

I've heard season 5 will be longer but I didn't expect it to be 100% longer than a standard season o,O Wouldn't it be better to just make two 13 episodes long seasons? o,O

That what it will end up being, Syfy will probably show one batch of thirteen episode this year and another batch next, for some reason they have decided to market this as season 5 A and Season 5 B. but do remember this is the same marketing department that thought Syfy was a good name change. An that did similar things with BSG.

Looking forward to Haven coming back and I'll give Ascension a look, will try anything with ex BSG cast members :)

Sick to death of the zombie apocalypse and vampires, esp the sexy ones. Still into the Strain at this point. I want to again go where no man has gone before. I want tales of space exploration that are NOT Extant. (Agree with Edshrinker that Buffy and Angel, at Angels start, were the exception.) What is missing now in these shows? Camp, humor and tongue in cheek writing. Ascension sounds promising though.

Where missing the quirky and cheeky way of writing, I think the writers have forgotten that a show can still be dark and have sass (teen wolf)

They're putting Haven up against Parenthood and a Shonda Rimes show. Interesting...

Not One (one), but Two (two) TWO Zombie shows, just for YOU!

Harken back to days of yore when not a single vampire or zombie was on television.

How did we ever survive?

I want to amend that by saying when we had the two (Buffy and Angel) the world was indeed a better place. Then again - I don't even look at those like vampire shows. I could never marginlize them that way.

Buffy and Angel weren't vampire shows they were more or less monster of the week show, with monster of the season show as a story arc.

That is exactly what I was implying above. Buffy dealt with Vamps on occasion. Angel was a vampire. Other than that - they were not vampire stories. Other than Buffy's 1st season with the Master.

Harold Perrineau Is a busy boy with Constantine and now this.

Walllllllt!

And you had me at Tricia Helfer for the other

It kills to have to wait soo long for Haven!!!! I hope season 5 with 26 episodes doesn't drag on. Haven is the best show that sad scifi wanna-be hip channel has! Rename that damn channel back already!! Ok rant over.

I thought they changed the name to distance themselves from being an exclusively scifi network? Do you really want them to false advertise?

it'll be weird having Haven on Thursdays, it's been Fridays at 9 since it began.. I'll probably check out Z Nation too

I kind of want to watch the show about Jasper, Alabama because that's about an hour from where I live... but I have no interest in something that could become a crappy Syfy movie. so..
