Right after the opening, Danny goes to help buy a helicopter. The copter beside the one he's helping to buy is the "same" one as seen in Magnum P.I. It has the same color scheme, same window layout, and one of the same skid configuration (wheels), as the copter used in the series. This looks to be a "hats off" by one Hawaiian based TV series to another.
Kamekona: You can all redeem your tickets as soon as I get my pilot's license.
Kono: Wait, wait, wait. You bought a helicopter and you don't have your license yet?
Kamekona: Technicality, sista.
Steve: Sitting on the couch with a pizza watching Miracle on 34th Street, that-that's not plans.
Danny: Oh, oh, but Christmas with the McGarretts is something you can't miss.
Steve: That's right.
Danny: Yeah, I'm just curious. What do you guys do? You give out subscriptions to Guns & Ammo, huh? Grenades as stocking stuffers?
Steve: (about Ethan) I like this kid.
Catherine: Of course you do. He's you at 13.
Kamekona: All I need you to do is bring the price of the chopper down to 170 grand.
Danny: Your plan makes zero sense. Why me?
Kamekona: Because the seller's a white guy and you haoles speak all the same language.
Danny: You mean English?
The title of this episode, "Kahu" means "Guardian" in Hawaiian.
