  • One of the good ones - exciting, suspenseful, good police procedures.

    8.1
"Five-O" is on the trail of a disturbed young man who is re-staging famous homicides that were solved by McGarrett in the past.

One of the best-staged serial killer episodes, some similarities to the earlier "Draw Me A Killer", but the story and characters are more believable here. It might even be classified as a good procedural, though the time line is way too telescoped to be realistic.

Still, the acting is good, and McGarrett plays well as he gradually pieces together the clues - handwriting, the reinactment of famous crimes published in a magazine, an angry stutter, etc. Che and the gang have plenty of opportunities to help construct the solution. The relationship between Eddie and the owner of the bookshop (played by the always good Ivor Francis) is a good touch as well, it has a little depth to it. Though the viewer fully realizes the nature of the killer's psyche, the final scene of act two is still a jolt. Perhaps the only faltering is the usual chestnut of the criminal becoming a little too unhinged in the final scenes, enabling the storyline to wrap up very quickly.

An almost-excellent episode with good pacing and dialog.moreless
