  • McGarrett must protect a vicious South American dictator from potential assassination attempts after his plane is forced to land on Oahu.

Hawaii scenery/landmarks: The Honolulu International Airport, featuring the interisland flight area and the sevice road next to it. The 1969 "Funbirds" of Aloha Airlines are seen in the background with their old classic orange tails with red and yellow flowers. The Ilikai Hotel and the Ala Moana Boulevard area in front of it are also featured.

Notable stars: Titos Vandis plays Utomo Jhakal the dictator. Among many other performances he later played Father Karras' uncle in The Excorcist in 1973, and his last American movie was Fletch Lives. Hawaii radio personality George "Granny Goose" Groves is uncredited as the other pilot, but I recognize him from numerous Hawaii TV commercials for Mike Salta Pontiac and Granny Goose chips.

A reportedly cruel South American president is told that his plane has to land on Oahu because of a mechanical malfunction, which has been set up by one of the pilots. When McGarrett is informed of the emergency landing he hurries down to the airport to give the dictator a secret escort. Kono later gets to ride a limo to throw off potential assasination attempts as he assumes the role of the El Presidente. The real dictator stays in the plane, and later gets smuggled to the Ilikai Hotel in a food delivery truck. Presidential plant Kono is just about to "grind" (or pig out) an expensive meal in his hotel suite when a female rebel dressed as a hotel employee points a gun at his back. As she calls out "For my mother and father" he drops his fork and spins around. Cut to the big wave with the suspenseful music. Does Kono survive to finish his plate? Be there... or be a square (meal!)moreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • When the pilot causes the plane to "malfunction", the exterior shot shows that the propeller on the left engine is not spinning, so you can see it's a three-bladed propeller. After landing, the plane they are inspecting has a four-bladed propeller.

    • In the final scene, McGarrett tells Savang and Koryo that they are under arrest. However, Koryo had earlier pointed out that McGarrett cannot touch him because he has diplomatic immunity.

    • The name of the country that Jhakal governs is never named, though he is referred to as a "savior of Asia" or "an Asiatic Hitler."

  • QUOTES (1)

    • McGarrett: When I was a kid, my old man taught us a rhyme. "He had six honest serving men, they taught him all he knew. Their names were Where and When and What and Why--and How and Who."
