  • A gang of revolutionary soldiers breaks into an artillery compound to steal guns and ammo to support their cause.

Hawaii scenery/landmarks: The episode starts off with a breathtaking view of the city from atop the twisting mountains of Tantalus panning from the Ala Moana building with the La Ronde revolving restaurant on top to Diamond Head. The revolutionary gang's leader is admitted to Leahi Hospital on Kilauea Avenue. A police car cruises past Kawaiahao Church with its bell ringing to signify Sunday mass. Another police car rides through Ala Moana Beach park with a shot of a large ship that appears to be the Lurline out at sea. The artillary base is located inside the Diamond Head crater. My mom and dad took me to a Diamond Head Crater Festival as a young boy in the early 70's but I wasn't old enough to know who Steve Miller or any of the groups were. I remember it being very hot, with a lot of hippies and the smell of burning leaves. Cops didn't bust anyone there. At least one naked toddler - the official hippy mascot - was seen with his family as they postitioned themselves for the concert on a blanket. The Crater Festival was banned in 1979 after neighbors complained about the noise every year.

Notable stars: Henry Silva plays Elpidio Acuna, the tough and fearless leader of the revolution. In 1979 Silva played the evil Kane in the Buck Rogers in the 25th Century TV series, and in 1988 played the villain in Above The Law. Big blonde Hawaii wrestler Nick Bockwinkel plays Harry, the leader of the dock strike.

This is one of the better action packed episodes of the series so far. The revolutionary soldiers overtake the artillery warehouse and stockpile on the weapons. It's interesting that the warehouse is not heavily guarded, as we see the same security company that got overtaken in the Makaha weather station in Forty Feet High and it Kills. Hayes Security always seems to be understaffed and ill-prepared, but of course these are no ordinary criminals. A shootout between McGarrett's boys and Acuno occurs, with even Kono and Chin Ho firing multiple shots at the warehouse. McGarrett plays the self-sacrificing hero and sneaks in through the roof, then shoots and apprehends Acuna as the others escape with the weapons. Acuna later manages an escape from the hospital and then his men try to get to the docks to ship the weapons back to their country.moreless

    • (McGarrett has rejected the notion of waiting for Acuna to bleed to death, and listed the criminal charges against him)
McGarrett: ...but I want him alive.
      Vallios: But why?
McGarrett: Why? Because we have laws here, sir, not dictators! Law. That word, the difference between your police and ours. The difference between your government and mine.

    • McGarrett: Kono?
Kono: Been keeping both ears to the ground, boss. Nothing.
Danno: (teasing) Any time you can put both ears to the ground, pal, that's something.
Kono: Let's not get personal. I covered this island like a blanket.
Chin: (laughing) That should be easy for you, Kono.

    • (HPD officer Cooper chats with off-duty Danno and Kono at the beach)
Cooper:(teasing) Hey, Danny, one of those [surfboards] for Kono?
Kono: What do you expect, a raft?
      Danno: He's a little sensitive.
Cooper: Sure. If you fall off, you better not float, brother. A plane might land on you.
Kono: If I fall off, you'll get a tidal wave warning.
