  • Covers familiar ground for the series, notable for the fact that it continues the Tony Alika saga and the ongoing threat of the Kumu.

A professional photographer bites off more than he can chew when he decides to use pictures to blackmail the Kumu.

There is a bit of time spent on developing the Tim Powers ("Stringer") character here, somewhat different than early season episodes of the series. Paul Williams does a decent job, though he's fashionable in a late 70s sense in that he also turns up all the time on "The Love Boat". Another difference is the attempt at more continuity, only a handful of early "Five-O" episodes bring characters back, here, Tony Alika and the Kumu are firmly entrenched as "the" underworld on Hawaii.

A less-than-mediocre installment, there is some drama when the thugs kill an adversary by dumping him out the window (a crime Alika will pay for) and an effort is made to portray a sense of concern by the model/friend of Powers'. Camera buffs might also like some of the plot details as well. But there's not a lot of excitement.

When it comes down to it, most of this story is recycled, many earlier episodes featured accidental photographic and film evidence of crimes, still others had more complicated and interesting blackmailing schemes. There is not a lot fresh going on, and the guest stars aren't really enough to make up for this fact.moreless
