  • A General comes to grips with the death of one son and the draft dodging of another.

I have been going through the series from the start and this is the best episode yet.

A General learns that one son has fallen off a balcony and wants to learn what caused the death. Meanwhile the General's other son is trying to figure out how to get out of getting drafted.

There is a lot of anti-war propaganda, to include some classic posters and slogans of the time "What if they held a war if no one came", "War is unhealthy for children and other living things", etc., and they are given some prominent placement in the episode. There is also some nifty camera work on more than one occasion that increases the quality of the show, and the last five minutes are as tightly wound as any I have seen on the show to date.

I have seen where many think that the third season represents a shift into the prime of the show - I agree and think it really kicks in here.moreless

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • When Croyden is shown eavesdropping on Jack's apartment, at least 1/3 of the tape is already on the right take-up reel at the time of the woman's scream. Later, as the tape is played back, the tape is still near the beginning when the scream is heard.

    • After Danno was "arrested" with the draft dodgers, he said all he had to do was show his ID and they would let him go. But the ID he was carrying stated that he was Danny Morgan on R&R from the Army.

    • At the hospital, General Rigney states that his son Jack was in Vietnam for two years. Later at son Michael's home, he states that Jack "contibuted his share for three long, hard years."

    • What Time Is It?

Steve says the maid told him the man fell off the railing at 10:13. His watch stopped at 10:17 according to Danno. But later in the episode, we see that the man's watch stopped at about 4:00.
