  • A fairly mediocre entry, more of a focus on the sport of hang gliding than on the story seems to detract a little from this installment.

    5.2
Car parts jackers with no sense of remorse end up entwined in the lives of young hang glider enthusiasts.

This is one of those episodes with a "theme" - in this case, the relatively (for the time) new sport of hang gliding - and focuses on that more than building a compelling story. The best parts revolve around the killers and their crimes, these are some of the nastiest low brow scum on the series. Kam Fong turns in an excellent performance as Chin makes the rounds asking for car parts without serial numbers. The "good guys" are more tepid, with the Molly character a little too strident and unrealistic in her expectations of "Five-O".

There's a fairly standard resolution, and what's more annoying is lots and lots of shots of soaring gliders and scenery, in a way understandable, but stilling burdening the episode with more filler than story. Interesting as a period piece but that's about all that stands out.moreless

    • (Chin Ho is examining a car stereo)

Oscar: Whaddya gonna do, listen to it or frame it, what?
Chin Ho: I was hoping it would fit in my car.
Oscar: Oh, what, uh, whaddya got?
      Chin Ho: Porsche.
      Oscar: It's made for it.
Chin Ho: How do you know? All the numbers are gone.
Oscar: Oh, well, see, I have these extra-ordinary powers.
Chin Ho: (drawing out his badge) So do I; Five-O.

    • McGarrett: Sit down, Mr. Lang.
Oscar: Oh, gee, thanks. You know, this is really a thrill, I mean, uh, me, a humble peasant, eh, having a chat with Steve McGarrett. It's the Double-O of Five-O, wow!
