Dennis is in an Honors French class, but in the episode "Partners", which takes place in January of 1989, he needed Maria's help reading French for a paper.
-
We learn: Jawaharlal, the character played by Jory Husain, moved to California; Maria, the character played by Leslie Bega, decided to study music; Janice, the character played by Tannis Vallely, has gone to college.
-
As people talk about Dennis and Arvid's science project, they call it "Frog in Space". But when you see the project's display, the sign says "Frogs in Space"
-
In "Parent's Day," Maria's mother comes in fashionably late and introduces herself as Francisca "Bor-gays." But here, Charlie pronounces the last name like "Bor-jhay."
-
At the end of this episode, the IHP gets to meet their opponents for the academic meet. When Alan encounters his "academic archenemy," they have a small exchange of words. At the end of it, Alan tells him "Eat borscht, Ivan!" but the character's name is Piotr!
-
During the opening segment with the episode's crew credits superimposed over it, the camera zooms in so close to the school that one can see "Washington Irving High School", the real name of the school that portrays Fillmore.
-
An editing/continuity goof: When Simone sits at her desk in one scene to explain her date with Oswald, "Japan" is misspelled "Japn" behind her on the chalkboard. When Eric makes a comment asking how Simone can "accidentally go out on a date," cut to Simone and "Japan" is spelled correctly for the next few moments. But when Eric makes the crack about Simone going out with "one of the Chipmunks," cut back to Simone and "Japan" is misspelled again!
-
In "Parents' Day," Eric has Chemistry right after Charlie's class...but Mrs. Russell's English class is seemingly right after Charlie's, and Eric's in it.
-
In "A Problem Like Maria," the class pretty much calls Maria a traitor for dating someone on the opposing team. However, in this episode, no one seemed to have a problem with Alan dating a girl from another team.
-
Bad editing: In one scene, Jawaharlal is standing right over Sarah and Arvid. In the next scene, Jawaharlal goes over to stand near his usual place in the class (on the side). Next scene, he is right over Sarah and Arvid again, with no explanation.
-
An editing goof: When Eric and Maria have their argument which ends with Maria yelling "You owe me!" an extra who is clad in a black cap and long black coat can be seen walking behind them, up the steps, twice.
-
Darlene's locker is second from the left in the top row of seven against the classroom. From other episodes, we know that means it's next to Arvid's.
-
Lois Samuels calls her husband "Goobes," as hinted at in the episode where Dennis learns that is his nickname (Ode to Simone).
-
Some of the headlines on the lampoon issue of the school newspaper are "Samuels attempts to crush student protest in cafeteria" (hinting towards the episode 'Child of the 60's' where Dennis leads a cafeteria protest), "Survivor tells of two weeks of torture in Fillmore detention cell" and "Amnesty International protests human rights violations in South Africa, Chile and Fillmore High School".
-
Dr. Samuels misprounces Sarah's father's name by calling him "Mr. NIVENS." It's "NEVINS."
-
Eric and Mr. Moore both mispronounce Jawaharlal's name in some way.
-
Charlie tapes the IHP playing volleyball at their second practice, and Alan was wearing shorts and his "trademark" SAT score shirt during that time. While the class is watching the tape before they have their meet with the basketball team, there is a scene of Alan getting hit with a volleyball while wearing the warm-up suit he had on during their first practice.
-
As everyone is saying "Bye" to Mr. Thomas when they leave, Jawaharlal says "Hello."
-
In this episode, we learn that the computers in the room are named Fred and Wilma. (Wilma is the one on Dennis' desk)
-
When Dennis tells a joke to Mr. Moore, he is standing by the teacher's desk. When he gets to the punchline "Can't be done. It's a hardware problem" it cuts away to a close up of Darlene but we see Dennis sitting by his computer. When it cuts away again to Mr. Moore's desk, Dennis is standing right next to it!
