  • Boy, what a great start to season 8!

    9.7
What a great way to kick off the season! This episode has it all - dancers, snakes, conspiracies and a new character!

The Greengrass-Bernie-David storyline is this episode is brilliant - I felt it was original and new. The ways they try to get rid off it are hilarious and Greengrass has some great lines! The funniest thing about this episode however is the scene in which they go to the Black Cat Club and it turns out that Bernie is a regular there! That had me howling!

The sub-plot of this episode (the poisonings) was also good - something that had also not really been touched in Heartbeat before.

    All-in-all a cracking start to season 8 - I highly recommend this episode!moreless

    • Bellamy: I may be a little bit drunk and I may be a little bit soft...
Greengrass: It'll grow on you Phil!
Bellamy:... But I'm not that drunk and I'm not that soft! Flaming animal rescue!

    • Greengrass: It would be a flaming copper that won it!

    • Greengrass: You'd better get your "glad-rags" on Bernie, because I'm takin' you somewhere were someone will be takin' theirs off!!

    • Craddock: Out on the beat Constable Ventress, let's get some fresh air into those smoke filled lungs!
Bellamy: Immitating Craddock Come on now Constable Ventress, get outside on the beat - there's a good boy!

Note: Bellamy's line is deleted from reruns of this episode but can be seen on the Heartbeat Chronicles VHS. It is well worth a look if you can!

    • Craddock: Ash
      Ventress: Sarge?
      Craddock: On your collar!
      Ventress: Oh, Sarge!

    • Greengrass, David & Bernie go into a sleazy strip club to see the owner about a business deal - not to see the show. They have to pass it to get there though. Bernie stops and oggles for a while

      Greengrass: Come on!
Dancer: Nice to see you Bernie!!
Greengrass: "Nice to see you Bernie"!!!
Bernie: I don't know what she's on about - never seen her before in my life!

      Greengrass looks amazed!
