Hearts of Courage

Hearts of Courage is a historical documentary that was released on January 10, 2009 by Discovery Channel, a cable television network in the United States. Is consists of a single episode with a length of one hour. This documentary covers the story of Joseph Tippets and Percy Cutting, who fly from Anchorage to Utah. The plane crashes in Alaska during January of 1943, which is one of the worst winters ever recorded. The nearest town is Ketchikan, which is 35 miles away. Tippets and Cutting must journey through heavy wilderness to get help for their four passengers. They require almost a month to make the trip and are barely alive when they reach civilization. Meanwhile, the passengers construct a lean-to at the crash site as they await the rescue party. Hearts of Courage is based on the novel of the same name written by John Tippets. The film is written, directed and produced by Rob Sibley.
